While numerous other districts have done so, Rapids hasn't canceled or started late this week, much to the dismay of many on social websites. FB chatter today claims the school policy now requires wind chills of -50 or more to cancel, but haven't verified that myself on the school site.north_bear wrote:^^ Thats what I heard. Virginia, Eveleth-Gilbert, Hibbing, Mesabi East, and Chisholm were all also open and on time all week. The only Range schools that were not open were Mountain Iron-Buhl, Nashwauk-Keewatin, and Greenway. That really had no bearing on the decision to cancel this game as it was cancelled by the HOME team (Greenway) because they did not have school during the day (district policy). Had the school been open during the day, the game probably would have been played.
