Any one on here cheering for Duluth East considering they are almost a private school?

Talk about things up in brainerd or bemidji or whereever you are from and leave Duluth hockey to Karl.

Meh no need to get picky .. Bemidjis up, Brainard is down, ... right?? Ah well they both start with B and are in the middle of nowhere, which is the section you should probably worry about..elliott70 wrote:grandmeadowhockeyfan wrote:There is a huge difference between private schools and Duluth east.

I think you are wrong.
Especially if you are from Duluth and you think I am UP in Brainerd.
Your geography is about as accurate as your spellingGPGT wrote:.. Bemidjis up, Brainard is down, ... right?? Ah well they both start with B and are in the middle of nowhere..
Seeing I grew up as a REGION 7 guy I still have a bit of interest there.GPGT wrote:Meh no need to get picky .. Bemidjis up, Brainard is down, ... right?? Hmm. Well, do you have a kid who's playing youth or HS hockey? Is he pretty good? If so, we may just be able to find your family a spot in the Cakeaters of the North Executive Suite at the X. Drinks after the game will be on us, too.Ogie wrote:If I do, will Karl or Lee sport me some tix to the tournament?

Reminds me of a chant the Hibbing fans attending the East-Hibbing section final in basketball way back in '75 did; "Push em in the lake, push em in the lake". Which was exactly what the Kevin McHale led Bluejackets did that night.TTpuckster wrote:By the way, wouldn't Duluth "East" technically be in Lake Superior?![]()

You should lay off the sauce while posting. Cloquet andnorthwoods oldtimer wrote:You section 8 boys now how to stir it up!elliott70 wrote:Any one on here cheering for Duluth East considering they are almost a private school?

Not a fan of East but you have to respect them for the success the program has had for a long time now. Randolph love em or hate em gets the most out of his teams. The single A teams like Cloquet and Rapids are no match for Duluth East and should play where they belong down in single A level. Hermantown and Marshall would be good replacements in section 7AA
This mindset is ridiculously short sighted and arrogant and you hear it all too often. Hermantown has great successful program and churns out more Junior/D1 prospects than the other 2 programs so spare the offhanded comments about single A hockey. Reality dictates a move as both programs can only muster 2 teams at bantam youth level (poor numbers), which translates into very poor numbers at AA high school. Duluth East owns both clubs at every level, so not much of a rivalry. Good luck trying to marginally compete in AA your "success" is an illusion.Topcheese08 wrote:Cloquet and Hermantown have very close to the same enrollment size. Hermantown can enjoy their Single A success all they want but cloquet and rapids would rather lose the 7AA play-in game every year than under achieve and succeed in Class A.

Hermantown - 626
GR - 947
D. East - 1345
D. Denfeld - 1071
D. Marshall - ???
Hibbing - 634
Virginia MIB - 573
(9-12 enrollment)
MSHSL has them listed as this. CEC is damn near double hermantown.

But, in response to the original post: no, of course East isn't "almost a private school!" What an outrage!![]()
