Why is it they are the program that should have more championships than they do? I also have to admit time is running out on Lechner as the game's best coach. It was a great title for Hill, but that was five years ago!

Lech is a great coach, but whether he is the best is debatable. You have to respect a coach who isn't afraid to discipline his best players. He does a very nice job at HM and from what I hear, the administration is behind him 100%.

I think it just shines light on how difficult it is to win at this level. Since 2000, the winners have been:
2000:Blaine
2001:Elk River
2002:Holy Angels
2003:Anoka
2004:Centennial
2005:Holy Angels
2006:Cretin Derham Hall
2007:Roseau
2008:Hill-Murray
2009:Eden Prairie
2010:Edina
2011:Eden Prairie
2012:Benilde St. Margarets
11 different teams in a 13 season span. If you think that Lech should be out, surely you think a guy like Giles or Pauly should be out too. Lechner is one of the best coaches in the state, granted he has talent to work with, but I haven't seen another coach in the state put together a unit like Coach Lechner does. I think it speaks to his coaching ability that he took a team that could have: Blake Heinrich, Jake Guentzel, and Luke Voltin (all three with Division-1 commitments) and he has them ranked #1 for the majority of the season. Obviously there is still talent on the team, but no Division-1 commitments.
