RIP Jon Hedberg
(Split off from East-Moorhead game thread)
According to East's press notes, the 1998 State champions will holding their 15th anniversary reunion at the Tournament this week.
Sadly, one of their number will not be present, as Jon Hedberg passed away in a skiing accident this past week. Hedberg saw a regular shift as a freshman defenseman that season, and went on to play in the OHL, at York University in Canada, and in various other leagues, including the ECHL, CHL, and the German league. He retired from hockey in 2009.
Thoughts and prayers to the Hedberg family from the East hockey community.

I sadly concur. He was part of a truly great championship team, and his talent was obvious. His spirit will be felt in and out of the East locker room this weekend.karl(east) wrote:According to East's press notes, the 1998 State champions will holding their 15th anniversary reunion at the Tournament this week.

Wow. That is horrible. He was a tremendous player and if I remember correctly he was only a freshman on the '98 team. Karl, can you verify? Just terrible news.karl(east) wrote:According to East's press notes, the 1998 State champions will holding their 15th anniversary reunion at the Tournament this week.

My bad, just realized you had said he was a Freshman that year.Sats81 wrote:Wow. That is horrible. He was a tremendous player and if I remember correctly he was only a freshman on the '98 team. The team will wear stickers with Hedberg's number (2) on their helmets this week.
