I just did a search again on DirecTV and it is only listed on 45 which I think is not going to broadcast HD. If I remember right I heard that the ratings don't justify production costs or something like that. Wouldn't you think standard definition equipment is going the way of the 8 track.

My Directv was not in HD last year either. I'm not a techie guy, but if one company can broadcast it in HD, why can't they all? Clearly they are using HD cameras down at the Xcel if Comcast has it in HD.

I am going to be out of town in Mesquite golfing this weekend and will miss hockey tournament.

Does anyone know if KSTC 45 is available on Direct TV or Dish ?

If yes, could someone help with the channels ?

Thanks for your help.

KSTC 45 is available on DirecTV and Dish as part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul market packages. If you are not in the MSP market, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to get it.

Pretty sure the broadcast isn't HD. I'm tuned into the Comcast HD 45 chanel and it's widescreen but the picture is pretty poor, leading me to believe that it's widescreen but not HD.

I think you are correct. Widescreen format, standard def. Hockey is so much better in HD.

I'm pretty sure it's broadcast through almost the entire state. Rochester has a channel, I'm sure Duluth has a channel, I get it up here in Bemidji...

John Millea's MSHSL twitter has answered the HD question about a dozen times the last few days. Channel 45 is broadcasting the tournament in HD.... Not all providers are picking up the HD signal... Most Notably Dish and Direct TV

My Comcast HD channel 238 is not full HD quality - switch between the Gophs and HS tonight and you'll see a HUGE difference. Looks from this end like they're shooting/processing a low datarate HDV (sorta prosumer HD) at best.

I'm gonna try the other Comcast KSTC HD channel - 812 for an A/B compare (the filler show that's on right now looks the same). Wish I had an antenna to try the over the air 5.2 signal.

Both Comcast 238 and 812 are widescreen, but there's no way this is an HD picture.
