Game story of Tuesday night's game between Team Northeast (Mpls-St. Paul Magazine) and Team Northwest (Velocity) will be posted later today. Note to make my job simplier, I will start using sponsors names in the stories such as the MSPer's, MM's (Muscle Milk), the Luthers, the Velocity, the Starkeys, and the TCFers or the Bankers. It lines the readers up with the pictures.

Just posted the game story from Shattuck last night. It can be read at:

I almost got the score right in my prediction yesterday, but I got the team wrong. Team Northeast played a good game considering the temporary nature of the team with players from all over who will be trying out for their own high school teams in a month.
The MSPers played a good game and it puts them in the chase for the title.

Just a bit of note on your power play comment. In past years, teams were not allowed to have a power play unit. This year however, they decided to ease up on that. I have noticed some teams will use a power play unit while other teams do no. I agree, they should not have set units but just play whichever line is up.

Elite League and "D" League should not be using PP and PK units. Just roll lines and allow the kids to separate themselves on equal terms.

I have no problem with set PP units. The coach wants their team to win, and a set PP gives them the best chance to do that. The more a team wins, the more scouts that come to that teams game. The more scouts, the more opportunities for the kids regardless of if they're on PP or not.

This is quite likely the biggest load of crap ever posted on this board. You really think rolling the lines would dramatically change the outcomes in these games? Everyone pays the same amount of money. By the way, most of the coaches really could care less about wins and losses in the Elite league.

Bluewhite: nutz, you beat me to it. Rock solid post. In a league where you are supposedly trying to give the kids some "exposure", that "exposure" should be on equal terms, not giving a handful of players a built-in advantage by getting more PP or PK time. If you think a scout shows up to one of these games based on the W/L record of either team, you obviously have not spoken to any of them.

Thanks. Any idea why they made the change?

If this is happening let Charlie Graves the league director know. He will address as not the intention of the league.

I don't know, but are the assists added after review of game tapes at the professional level considered phantom assists?

With the Elite season winding down, there are two more tourneys being played this weekend at New Hope. The Elites have taken the top players from this Falls play and divided them into teams. They will play at 8 team bracket format tourney against teams from eastern US and from Canada. The post can be read at:

Frederick, really nice overview and analysis. I would take exception to the headline, though, considering that it was Hill-Murray’s finest (Slattery) combining with St Thomas Academy’s finest (Novak) to put Minnesota over the top. Not exactly “Pubs over Privates” then is it? Why turn the easiest headline in the world — “Minnesota wins” — into a different controversy?
To me the big story from this tournament was Shattuck losing twice. Someone could have made big money in Vegas on that storyline. There must be a little heat down in Faribault after this string of losses at the hands of mere mortals.
Let the “all-star team with handpicked talent” versus “elite rich boarding school that plays 100 games a year” debate rage on…..
