How many D1 programs are there in the Nation? If one takes this years total players and divides by 20 players per team, that comes out to about 74 teams...........Are there that many D1 teams in the U.S?

Hard to believe that one third of US college hockey (D1) is made up of international players. Do we not have enough talent in this country to fill these rosters?

What percentage of D-I college players are from Canada? I'd have to imagine they make up a good size piece of the international players.

You did if you bought tickets to Gopher sports, Gopher apparel, or watched them on TV - athletics are self-supporting at the U, no taxpayer funding.

Stating the obvious, but while overall higher number of players from the US, both MN and MA declined in the past 10 years... During this time expantion of MN teams into D1 also.... Good to see player's coming from non traditional area's, but decline of players from MN disappointing.

If the sport continues to grow nationally this is inevitable.

There can be up to 30 guys on a D1 roster. So 74 teams worth of players, yes .... but crammed onto 59 teams.

The lowest number was 24 players with 32 the highest. A large number with 26.

Close, but not entirely accurate. Each team has 2 Minnesotans, (Frueh, Saxon, Lambert, Frechette)
