Anybody want to shine a light on this one?
Or does the Flub have it wrong?

It's legit, WBL outshot Hopkins like 32 to 12, but could not put it away.

I was there. White bear looked the sloppiest I have seen them in maybe ten years. None of the kids looked ready to skate. No jump at all. Lots of passes in to skates and a lot of pucks rolling off sticks. I will say they still carried all the play. Hopkins kept the puck away from the front of the net well.

Hopkins would throw a line out, hold on for 45 seconds or so and then ice the puck to get a change. So many whistles there wasn't much flow at all.

One of the defensemen for white bear gave up a bad turnover that sprung Hopkins on a breakaway in OT to win it.

They were definitely 32-12 in favor of white bear. I know because I watched the official scorer track them.

I did see the scoresheet and the shots were as I said before but it was a good game and I enjoyed watching 2 teams battle.

sorry, you're dead wrong, 32 to 12 is correct, but it does'nt matter, Hopkins won.

Hopkins had about 14 shots. This is the worst game WBL has played this year. I don't know if they thought it was only Hopkins that they didn't need to show up at all but they were horrible the entire game. They were lazy with their passes which led to a ton of turnovers.

hopkins 2 wbl 1

Yup, Sager needs to teach these boys that they can not take a night off.
WBL alwas seems to play down to the level of the weaker teams they play, but sometimes they also play up to the level of the better teams.

Looks like the Bears are going to struggle if Wahlin doesn't put in 2 or 3 goals every game.

Its so strange to me that this would be the case. Austin Welch on the second line can score, but he has been a bit snake bitten this year.

IMO, Sam Anderson should be on the top line. Lovvdokken is a better skater, but Anderson is the most gritty player on that team. He dives into corners and competes hardest behind the net. Better compliment to Wahlin and Giller imo. It worked well when Lovvdokken had his game he had to sit due to CFB.

That means you could have Lovvdokken and Welch on the second line which could give you more scoring there.

I would also not be surprised to see some movement between JV and Varsity. A couple JV kids that are younger seem to be scoring more and more, and look to be better scoring threats than some of the varsity skaters.

Its so weird because I feel like this is the most depth WB has had in a long time. They have three lines with speed that can put pressure on the other teams defenses, which they haven't had in the past. They also are a lot harder on the forecheck than they have been in previous years.

I do remember though, that last year they took a big stride after christmas when they played edina/DE tough and seemed to hit their stride after that until the 1-0 loss in sections to HM.

Put A.J. Welch on 1st line W/Giller[same line in Bantams] & Whalin.

Shots did not mean a thing during this game. I would watch hopkins get a shot and wbl would fail to put it on the score board. Shocking I know right. White bear lake not only didn't come to play, But they got out worked plain and simple.

I will agree with you they got outworked, however I think your logic on the shot tracking is ridiculous. Let's assume, first of all, that the scorer's were the employees of WBL (they aren't, they are paid by the rink).

Wouldn't it "pad the stats" more if they added more shots for hopkins so the goalie's save % looks better? If I had to pick which goalie I was in that game, I would rather have it be the one that gave up 1 goal on 32 shots than 2 on 12. in order for it to count as an official shot on goal it has to be on net and get to the goalie (posts/blocked shots don't count)

I think it is pretty ridiculous to think a minor official is down there trying to ignore plays by either team.

I noticed 3 consecutive shots for Hopkins get put on the WBL shots on goal on the scoreboard. Guy was obviously a rookie at working the scoreboard but none the less no matter how many shots Hopkins had it doesn't matter, they still won

In the end, after watching that game i feel like this isn't the only upset we are going to see out of hopkins this year. Strong goaltending, hard work, good d zone can go really far in highschool. It was a very entertaining game to watch!
