It will be interesting! Depends on what WBL team shows up. You can watch this game on http://TheHornWBL.com.

If Rapids loses they can't use being tired from the I'falls game as an excuse. Unless it's tired of scoring.

Rapids 1, White Bear 0, end of period 1. Avery Peterson ppb. Three power plays for Rapids.

White Bear 2, Rapids 1, end of two periods. Whit Bear was on the power play for the first 5 minutes of the period including a 5 on 3. Scored one ppg.

White Bear 4, Rapids 1. Shots were 38 - 12 White Bear. Rapids has some major issues. They have no ability to get the puck out of their end and were consistently beaten to the puck . Power play needs major work. Puck is just passed around the perimeter. White Bear had more shots than Rapids during Rapids' power play. If it wasn't for Shepherd the game would have been in running time. Can't see how they will compete with Elk River or East.

Its one thing to win ugly. Its another to lose ugly. Getting outworked is never a formula for success.

I couldn't put my finger on Rapids' biggest problem, but you did. Rapids had no energy or sense of urgency as the game progressed. I have never seen a Rapids team seem to "give up" like I did today. They have always fought hard until the final horn.

GR held up pretty well through the first period and into the second. At the end of 1 they were outshot 9 to 5 (which is good for them) and had the 1-0 lead. But, by the time the spate of WBL powerplays were running down early in the 2nd GR was out of gas. My impression is that this GR team is not as well conditioned as in the past. I can't tell if it is the youth or the training.

More importantly after a brief mid season skid the Bears take advantage of heading out of town to start rolling again. Very nice weekend for the east side public schoolers!

Youth and conditioning probably plays a part. But I have always believed winning teams gain a winning attitude about how they play and I am not seeing it to date. Rapids better find a way to gather themselves, get some pride and quit mailing in the effort or they are gonna be watching Duluth or Elk River playing down at the big show. I don't enjoy saying that either cause I am orange and black to the core. I call em like I see em.

I didnt get to watch but did listen to the game. The lack of intensity is concerning. I'm gonna wait to see how they respond and how they play when they get Alex Adams and Quinn Mischke back. I saw an 02-03 Rapids team that stumbled to a 4 seed reach OT of a section final.

If you are a White Bear fan, thing that should make you feel the best about this game is they scored 4 goals and Wahlin only had a point in 1 of them.

If you get that kinda production out of other lines and Wahlin does what he does, they could start really pouring it on going into sections.

Sounds like some bitter Rapids fans. But maybe WBL is finnally playing up to their potential.

Very wrong. WBL is a very good team, lots of respect for them. In the same token, being skeptical of Rapids effort in no way has anything to do with being "bitter" towards WBL. That is really a ridiculous take.

I didn't mean bitter towards WBL, I just meant bitter for the loss.

Still, I don't think bitter is the correct term, at least not for me. I'm still optimistic about the playoffs for this team, I just wonder why they didn't play with more urgency in this game. They have games vs. Moorhead and Hermantown that will serve as a gauge for them going into sections.

You're probably right. I 've only seen Rapids play at the Edina tourney., but there was a real lack of intensity even back then.

I watched back some of the game and honestly I think these are two evenly matched teams and WBL had some good breaks. The shot count was way off according to the KOZY announcer, if it's the same guy from when I lived there I'm not surprised, he just watches a lot. The Peterson goal was a snipe shot that was D1 caliber. Real bad break on the 2nd goal for WBL where the ref got in the way of the Rapids defensemen and allowed a short breakaway for WBL. I watch college hockey every weekend and see scores of 4-1 one night, then 3-0 or 5-2 the next for the other team. WBL has some kids with skill and I hope they are able to upset Hill in the section finals.

Why is it when Rapids beats a team it's because they are far superior but when they get beat its always the shots were not correct, the refs somehow cost them, or a few bad breaks were the dif. So by this logic my beloved Broncos were really screwed by the reffing in rapids and had they not have that puck go off the refs skate directly to Peterson for a breakaway early the game would have been different. Why can't Rapids fans ever just come out and say "hey we got beat by a team that out played us today". It does happen. Wow the arrogance.

Or maybe if you were there you would have seen that White Bear Lake outplayed Grand Rapids in nearly every facet. Yeah the Bears got a break on the 2nd goal, but it is still 3-1 without that goal. The Thunderhawks were simply outworked by White Bear Lake and the Bears were clearly the better team.

Did you not see my post above? Quit generalizing about Rapids fans.

They were the better team on this afternoon. Not sure where you get "arrogance" from. I think I gave kudos to WBL. If you think one game proves they are always better on every night, well then I agree to disagree.
