Why is it that Minnesota hockey has a regional tournament for A and B Squirts but only for 4 districts? It looks to me like all the money distrcts and all the rest only get district playoffs at best. FAIR?

Their own sanctioned event...Squirts don't have regional or state tournaments.
see link..."actual" regional tournaments are only for Pee Wee's and up

Survey,
Looks like this is sanctioned and supportted by Minnesota Hockey for the advancement of some districts more than others. Maybe time to sue like everyone else does to get treated equal. District 2, 4 and 8 have been overlooked in this tournament of champions. And since when do runner-ups be called champions? Here is the link for the "B" Squirt tourney and notice the header and the sponsors.

This is from District 6 website:
http://www.d6hockey.net/page/show/10882 ... tournament
It says most other districts will likely participate next year. Not sure if that is true or not.

The link I provided looks different than the one puckranger2 provided.
Again, when are second place teams considered champions and not to include District 2 and 8 the larger districts should be a slap in the face but of course that is how almighty District 6 is. My link came from Osseo/Maple Greve. In addition with this tournament after districts every team in this tournament of champions are over their alotment of games/dates. In district 2 you cannot go over.

Your answer is in the link-
"Minnesota Hockey announces the 1st Annual Tournament of Champions for the 2013-14 season. The tournament is considered the first "State Tournament" for the Squirt A & B and Girls 10U A & B levels. This year, only metro districts will participate this year and it is expected that the remaining districts participate next year."
This is the 1st one- if all goes well it will grow. Makes sense.

You don't consider Distrct 2 and 8 part of the metro? I must have missed something during this whole thing. Seeing you don't put where your from I have to assume it is from one of the districts that get to participate.

Probably should have been worded "some metro districts will compete in this innaugaral tournament that we hope will grow in coming years..."...blah blah blah..... Again- call the two gentleman listed in your link and you can probably get a more accurate beakdown of how this all went down. Either way I wouldnt lose any sleep over it...it's squirts/U10's. Plenty of hockey ahead in the coming years for the kids.

Maybe that's why they're not involved.

Froggy Richards, You are probably right I forgot there are differnt rules for everyone that is why Minnesota Hockey is a mess. District 6 does what they want and they run the show.

Last year Youth Hockey Hub along with someone else perhaps, ran a big squirt tourney at BIG if I remember. Some associations did not attend their district squirt tourneys and thus to combat this or join in, decided a regional event was needed.
Some of us thought it a bit like talking out of both sides of your mouth when you have a 35 game limit but then have district and region playoffs on to of that.
But, they decided to have a trial run at regions.
If it goes okay, I am assuming it will, it will be extended to the whole state.
35 game limit still????

elliott,
Thank you, I just don't know why the elite got the YHH tournament last year and now this year the "Tournament Of Champions and Runner-Ups". We in district 8 never got the oppurtunity this year plus as I stated "Tournament Of Champions" is what it states and runners-up are not champions. The champions all should be from different districts. Since they get extra games, again the bigger associations everyone should get more games after playoffs. Come on no one in Minnesota Hockey thought about this. No wonder people are taking the game we love away from their children and not allow them to play hockey, again different rules for the few.

I see all these teams in the tournament of champions are afraid to have district 2 and 8 champions in their tournament. Let's call it a trial so the districts playing think they are better than everyone else. Lakeville South and Johnson Como from 8 and Hudson from 2 would prove your tournament is a farce. Is this a continuation of the Youth hockey hub bull- crap from last year?

That Youth Hockey Tournament got the ball rolling. I believe they attempted to invite the top ranked teams regardless of district as in the end it was not sanctioned. But considering the huge success of the tourney, MN Hock in all there wisdom saw the success of that YHH tourney and decided to take it for themselves and apply their own f'd up rules to the beta plan. Which in the end has ended up being the reason why most of you are upset. YHH should be applauded for finding a market that had demand, and filling that demand with as much common sense as possible. Which is clear MN Hock is unable to do.

The next biggest and greatest idea is to have a championship of the champions tournament for all-invite mini-mites teams in the state. Rink will be packed!
