1AA Play-Offs

Lakeville North has been the #1 team in the state at times and looks to be the real deal. Does anyone in the section have a chance to knock them off? I remember some years when South had the better record and seed, but could not get by their rival North in the section. Will the roles be reversed?

Most of the 1AA area us under a blizzard warning Thursday so I expect most if not all of the games to be postponed until Friday. This happened in 2009 and shook up the tournament some as depth became an issue on Saturday.

Obviously North is a clear favorite but those intracity games can be pesky and up until the last couple of years the favorite hasn't won these games, I'd imagine North would rather see Farmington than South for a third time.

Where I would like to see the better team go to the tourney, I am calling for South to upset North.... just looks like that will happen. Farmington is not as good as they appear. Just my opinion. Oh and yes I am crazy.....

Have you actually seen South play this year?

Does not matter, these two teams always have good games...
What it will come down to is whose goalie is hotter for that day, but both teams need to make it to the finals first.
Like I said I was crazy, have seen too many games go the wrong way for the better team and vice-versa....

I completely understand what you are saying and have seen the same too many times as well. I just really don't see South beating North if they are both in the final and wouldn't be surprised at all to see Farmington beat South.

this is great and all, but what does it have to do with ineligable players?

Please elaborate. Not about the spelling, but the ineligible players.

It's a joke. 1AA in the thread title looks close to "AA" which is shorthand for Achiever Academy, which has had problems with ineligible players (as discussed in a separate thread with "AA" in the title).

Schools are starting to cancel in the SE area of the state. Games rescheduled to Friday?

Rochester JM will not be traveling to Farmington tomorrow. Game has been moved to Friday.

I think Farmington and South have a great chance to upset North. North has a target on their back for the first time in history. That makes them ripe.

I predict Farmington over North 3-1

I think there is a higher chance Rochester John Marshal beats Farmington in the first round then having Farmington make it to the championship game and beat Lakeville North

Owatonna at Mayo postponed to 7pm Friday
Century at South postponed to 7pm Friday
Dodge County at North postponed until 2pm Friday
JM at Farmington postponed until 7pm Friday

Northfield at Albert Lea postponed until 7pm Friday
Faribault at Lourdes postponed until 7pm Friday

The other 2 class A games are still on as of now

A tough turnaround for the afternoon top bracket games, especially in A with an 11:30am start Saturday.

Owatonna 3 Mayo 2 (ot)

Oddly the North/Owatonna winner will have a spot in the finals before either of the bottom quarterfinal 3pm South/Century games ends or the 7pm JM/Farmington game even starts.

They will wait until Monday night to find out their opponent. South and Farmington will play their semi-final Monday night.

The Farmington\South game should be a good one.

Clearly North is a good team, that said I thought Owatonna had a terrible game plan and instead of forcing North to the outside they tried to skate and chase North. When Owaronna packed it in they kept North at bay when they chased, didn't get the puck out or deep they got in trouble. Nearly all Norts goals came off of bad defensive zone play by Owatonna. Owatonna wasn't going to win an up and down game with North but tried to. Bad game plan.

Wouldn't be surprised either way with South or Farmington. Don't know much about Farmington, other than they have a good record and they got crushed by some pretty mediocre or less than mediocre AA teams. South on other hand has zero coaching and a couple of skilled kids in Swaney and Lauderdale. I really just don't see either hanging with North and their depth and being high seed having ability to match. PL proved me wrong though in last game of reg season! Guess that's why they play!

Per the MSHSL website the Farmington vs Lakeville South game will be played Monday at 7pm in Rochester.
