It is a separate league for Bantam 'A' teams. Typically teams that participate play VFW league games in addition to district games. VFW has their own standings, district tournament, & state tournament.

VFW of Minnesota puts on their own state championship lateral to Minnesota hockey. The Bantam A team has to be sponsored by a local post and if read correctly the local post is required by VFW to sponsor if it is requested. They run their own district regular season, and district tourney and state tourney. Their districts are the same as the actual VFW district. So as a bantam A team who is sponsored by VFW, you can play in two different post seasons, I always enjoyed it a lot. Our VFW district was different and incredibly more fun and competitive than our MH district. though there aren't as many teams in the VFW program, it is very competitive and is very important to win it, a big deal. And yes the VFW treats the boys unbelievably well.

Do they still run a Bantam league or are they just down to a state tournament?

Watched some of the District 9 tourney in Crookston over the weekend and Roseau advances to VFW State. Who advanced from the other districts? Have all the other districts had their tournaments?

I believe most Bantam A VFW Regional Tournaments follow the MN Hockey State Tournament by a week. The VFW State Tournament is 2 weeks after the MN State one.

Still no link to any info?

My son's team is participating in a VFW District Tournament but there was no league during the season. Not sure if that is the case statewide. There are 9 VFW Districts and each will send a Champion to the State Tourney. The host district also gets a host team, so it is a 10-team state tourney.

I agree this used to be a lot of fun playing in the VFW league games because they were full stop time and 1.5 hours long in the days when regular league games were just an hour of ice. We had a third jersey that we would wear for the VFW league.

I commend the VFW for trying to keep this tradition alive.

FYI

This years VFW State Tournament is being held at the new Fergus Falls Community Ice Arena on March 28th - 30th.
This will be a great weekend to see some high end Bantam hockey teams.
Best of Luck to all VFW teams!

District 4 Playoffs are Monday & Tuesday next week. There was no regular season this year due to complications getting ice. All VFW District 4 teams were given the option of playing in the playoffs.

March 3rd: Highland vs Sibley
White Bear Lake vs Roseville

March 4th: Championship
