No huge surprises outside of 2A, as they were the only section the #1 seed didn't make it out of sections. Thoughts on the seeds?

5. Totino-Grace (17-10-1)

I think Hermantown got the best draw getting to play an undefeated team that just may be the best class a team in the state!
Should be very interesting

Orono, imo, had a very solid case to be made for getting seeded.
It's a bummer that the top seed has to play the best of the unseeded teams.

This was crazy, ranking Chisago Lakes above Luverne.

Not my ranking. I did this after seeds had come out. The bottom 3 are simply the "seed" their opponent dictates. ie. Since Orono is playing the top seed, they are the 8 seed in a bracket.
With their Cathedral tie and losing to Hermantown by 1 I personally would have Orono seeded and definitely not seeded New Prague above a team who beat them.

SCC 3 and NP 4 based on the head to head makes sense.
Those voting on the seeds must have put more weight on the fact that NP beat a 25-3, top ten team, twice. Neither of those games was @ NP. Those "quality wins" coupled with fewer losses must be what did it.
HShockeywatcher, you might have to explain "quality wins" to the folks from SW MN...
Everyone needs to remember that the 6-8 positions for the pairings are randomly drawn. I would bet that Orono is 6 if they were to rank all 8.
Can't say that I disagree with the way it ended up when you look at it that way.

And you'll have to explain "undefeated" to the other people.

Thanks for making my point.
27-2-1 is not undefeated in my dictionary....

The record is 27-0-1 at this point in time. You don't really understand the word 'undefeated', I take it.

Do you have an actual point? This all started with a comment about "ranking" Chisago above Luverne. Then you brought up Luverne and brought up qualities wins. What quality wins does Chisago have?
Could Luverne go 0-2? Sure. But they are on the same side of the bracket as Chisago so at worst one of them won't go 0-2 and one of EGF, Orono, Totino or Cathedral will...
If I were to have ranked the teams pre-seeding, it would have been:
1. East Grand Forks
2. Hermantown
3. Cathedral
4. Orono
5. Totino-Grace
6. New Prague
7. Luverne
8. Chisago Lakes

I agree with this. I'm not quite sure how New Prague got seeded #3....

outshot, yes... outplayed, no..... and possibly becasue they seeded based on the whole body of work, not just one game. Only one loss by more than a goal, all four losses to section finalists (Farmington, Cathedral, Hermantown and Eagan) I was surprised they got the three seed over Cathedral, but felt sure they would be no lower than four.

Yes I agree, I was just saying Cathedral shoulda been ranked ahead of them.

I could agree with that.
