From @MNHocCoachAssn:

@wildcatboys Mike Taylor and @LuverneHSHockey Derrick Brown named John Mariucci Award winners as Class AA and A coach of the year.

SCC's Ron Brown and Centennial's Chris Johnson named state assistant coaches of the year.

LeSeuer-Henderson and East Ridge are the Class A and AA state academic champions for 2013-14.

congratulations to all.

I don't like that these ALWAYS go to state tournament coaches. However, No argument on these choices. Luverne really turned some heads and played an exciting style, and Eagan was the toughest, hardest working team I have seen in the tourney in a long time. Both well deserved.

Mike Taylor a great pick:

Working to bring out the best in the kids he had, and peaked at right time.

Also best coaching strategy against Lakeville North in their final regular season game (close loss) , against Duluth East, and against Edina (close loss) also.

Great pick and incredible coaching job at tourney given the line juggling he had to do having lost two key forwards (#7 & #25) to injuries early in the Edina game. Neither returned to the game - something the announcers did not entirely pick up on (go figure) - and they did not play in the 3rd place game/win.

Any reason why the LN coach wasn't considered. It is truly remarkable what he has done for that program

That a boy! That was actually LN's game plan! Dive, fake injuries, slash, hook, trip, take cheap shots, etc. (Tongue in cheek of course). Just beat them next year then you won't have to whine about it.
