Was I just blinded by the Edina bling in my section but where were the Poehlings in the third period?

Blowing their one finals appearance. I think North needs to grow up quite a bit before I'll believe they can make another run.

Granted, freshman goalie in state finals never equals success. Especially one you rented from a neighboring community.

He grew up in Farmington (is my understanding) and I assume they could have used him this year since they made the section finals without him. There is a whole thread someplace about all the pissed off North parents whose kids had to step aside this year for the new batch of recruits. Their words, not mine.

He will be good in the future but last night it showed he was young.

As far as the Poehlings, they have some work to do before they will be able to play at St. Cloud State.

Didn't Lindgren from Eagan play Youth hockey for Lakeville North (that's where older brother Charlie played through Varsity). Could have made the difference.

Yes he did.

I had to smile and wonder what thoughts were going through the L North kids heads as Lindgren came out to accept his Wells Fargo All-tournament team award!! Eagan fans and parents had to be happy that they recruited him in to play Goalie for the Wildcats these last three years. L North players and friends of Andrew not so much.

He left on his own accord 3 years ago prior to his Freshman year in HS (before the 2011-12 season began) with LN coaching job in limbo. He and his parents weren't willing to take a chance that the former longtime coaches at LN would still be there (after his older brother Charlie played there through his jr yr in HS.)

In hindsight, sure it would have been nice for him to stay at LN. He's excellent, and i'm certain had coach Eigner been announced prior to the school year starting he would have stayed.

Advice for these brothers

1) Hit the weights as hard as possible and put on at least 10lbs of muscle

2) Play either LaCrosse or Football and learn to hit, be hit, and learn to control the emotions after being belted around for most of the game

3) LEAD by example. What was displayed against Edina was not that....

4) Play to make ALL your teammates better no matter who you are with on the ice.........

5) Backcheck. I saw more than once on Saturday night, these forwards head off the ice for a change as the puck is being rushed into their defensive zone. So instead of gutting out being tired and getting back in the zone to help, they leave the odd man rush going for a good extra 5 seconds or so...... again, LEAD by example.

6) Don't pick altercations with larger skaters........ nuff said about that expecially when one plays Juniors......

7) One of the best lines in the state. Continue to improve and mature..... sky is the limit!

I know for a fact that Lindgren wouldn't have stayed in Lakeville regardless of the Coach. He's happy in Eagan, and has never looked back!

It means there is a lot more to it than that...Frost14 has the right idea!

Agree with NAHC on the importance of backchecking development

They don't have far to look for example.

Edina 2way forwards did a lot of this in the final game, clearly controlling the neutral zone

Mister Mishmash and Mr. Fiddler are probably not going win the Lady Byng
trophy. Sweet Lou himself was chiding his grandkid for his penalties.
Sure Lakeville did some hacking but they certainly aren't the first team
to so.

Never said they were!! When a team finally makes it to the Championship game (first time in school history) and instead of playing with pride and class, and playing the game they know, they throw it away with cheap shots and fake penalties, just an embarrassing way to end the season for them and Lakeville!
