OMGHA association breakup?

Heard about this and it's up on the OMGHA website.
Any insight by users on what is happening?
Some questions I guess I have are:
Is this just driven by a group of MG parents? Do Osseo parents want this to happen? If it gets up for a vote at the annual meeting next week....will it pass?

How many squirts are from Osseo? They could have had three solid A squirt teams this year..

Gotta be a low number as the Resolution docs state that 83% of OMGHA is Maple Grove skaters. Of the remaining 17% that are Osseo skaters......I would hazard maybe enough for one team??

"We understand we can't make Osseo leave any more than Osseo can make us stay. We can either collaborate or isolate. The choice is yours."
What, in the name of hockey, does this mean? MG has the majority, so they're voting to kick the Osseo kids out. Pure elitism. Thanks for the partnership when we needed you, but good luck to you. I especially like the section explaining why this is good for the "non-MG" members. Clearly nobody from the Osseo side was involved in writing these proposals. The board must be all MG now.

Sounds like the hockey version of the movie Mean Girls. Who writes this stuff?

Well, there is a precedent.
The gentleman who helped orchestrate the OMGYFA split....is also helping engineer the OMGYHA split

Not everyone in the community was upset by Stefano's ouster. "While the circumstances that led to the change are unfortunate, there is no question that a change in leadership was necessary,'' said Pat Ross, a community youth sports activist and coach.

When they orginally merged was there a ice rink involved? If so has MG figured out a way to keep a high volume of hours to themselves?

Osseo has the two ancient rinks at the high school. Maple Grove only had one rink at the community center up until 2 or 3 years ago when they added a second sheet.
Methinks you may on be onto a a part of it at least.

LOL "a community youth sports activist and coach"

(I'm laughing at the term...not the guy. Don't know him).

I think youth associations make a mistake when they consider themselves part of the high school organization. There is no connection between community based youth hockey associations and high schools. Entirely separate entities.
A youth hockey associations role is to develop youth players irregardless of where they play HS hockey. Focus on developing as many strong youth players as you can and keep your hands off the wheel as responsibilities beyond that aren't yours.

I'm pretty sure no one at OMGHA is supporting this. Got the following email from OMGHA:
Dear OMGHA Parents,
OMGHA’s community youth hockey association could not thrive without our 1000+ players, thousands of dedicated parents, hundreds of coaches and managers, and a thriving business community. We look to our association to present opportunities to help the OMGHA Board grow the game and our kids’ love of hockey.
To facilitate growth and to keep our organization strong, our Board has worked to keep open lines of communication between our association and the wonderful families that comprise it. As such, we would like to call your attention to a matter and give you an opportunity to share your opinion with us.
In May 2013 Mr. Pat Ross approached the OMGHA Board at our monthly meeting with a petition and demand for the OMGHA Board to convene a special meeting of the OMGHA Membership to vote on the resolutions (attached) and a proposal to create the Maple Grove Youth Hockey Association. The Board determined that Mr. Ross was seeking to amend OMGHA’s bylaws by altering our geographical boundaries. OMGHA’s bylaws clearly outline a process by which a member may seek to amend them. Mr. Ross refused to follow this process. Therefore, the OMGHA Board declined to call a special meeting. In return, Mr. Ross filed grievances against the entire OMGHA Board.
To resolve Mr. Ross’s grievances the OMGHA board agreed to host a membership meeting in January 2014 at which Mr. Ross was to present the benefits of splitting the association as outlined in his proposal. Mr. Ross first attempted to cancel this meeting at the last minute and then failed to attend the meeting. The attendees of this special session all left the meeting with one undeniable conclusion: there was zero support for Mr. Ross or his proposal.
Aware that he lacks any real support for his proposal, Mr. Ross changed direction. Knowing he cannot obtain an OMGHA split, Mr. Ross now is seeking a merger of OMGHA and North Metro Hockey Association. Post-merger, Mr. Ross intends to split the OMGHA travel program (Squirt C/U8 to Bantam AA/U14A) via high school boundaries into TWO separate entities operating under one “umbrella” organization. He proposes that each entity will have separate travel teams and separate hockey boards.
Once again, Mr. Ross has ignored the OMGHA bylaws and processes. Mr. Ross has not been named as an advocate for OMGHA. Nor has he been empowered to represent the OMGHA Board in any capacity. Any merger requires two willing participants. North Metro is has not expressed a willingness to proceed with talks, and the OMGHA Board feels forced into a situation that contradicts resolutions passed 4 years ago when we unanimously voted to terminate the internal split of our travel teams. We found that dividing our travel teams served only to negatively impact our players’ abilities to play at their optimal level while needlessly stressing our organization’s infrastructure.
At the Annual Meeting on Monday April 21, the OMGHA membership will have an opportunity to voice responses to Mr. Ross and his proposal. The OMGHA board’s stance is that Mr. Ross has proposed something that will split our membership, hurt our unique position in the State of Hockey, and diminish the growth of the game.
While the OMGHA Board is united against what Mr. Ross proposes, we are totally committed to ensuring that we hear the voices of our association members. Therefore, we ask that you come to the Annual Meeting, further educate yourself on this matter, and vote on it.

AA/A split has blurred those lines you speak of.

Did anyone ever publish what happened at that house that caused him to be fired?

Seems as though Mr Ross and Mr Frisvold believe they have enough support for a split

This guy is the worst possible example of a youth sport parent. I feel sorry for his kid(s) as this will reflect poorly on them.

So the boys are in highschool and his daughter will be in JR High next year. Why does he care about a OMGHA/MGHA split so bad? His daugher has maybe 2 years of youth hockey left.

Must have had her rightful spot on the A team snatched by one of those heathen Osseo kids.
