Latest update as posted by his family on his Caring Bridge site:
"Yesterday Cole responded to pain by slightly moving his feet and hands. His doctors were planning to take him back to the operating room to work on his arm. Cole was unable to have surgery because his ICP and blood pressure spiked on his way down to the operating room. They were able to stabilize him, but his numbers spiked again last night.
Cole is highly sedated due to the level of pain from his injuries, and he remains on a respirator to allow himself time to heal. The doctors are hoping to do the arm surgery in the next couple of days.
Thank you to everyone for their continued love and support for Cole and our family. Words cannot express the appreciation we have for each one of you!"

For those of you planning to stop by the hospital to visit Cole and his family, be sure to stop by the family waiting room and grab the sharpie pen and sign his banner hanging in the room. My neighbor is a marine Sgt. who has been doing a Sgt. Nellie bootcamp preseason team building with many of these young men. He made a real basic flag for the boys to take care of and rally behind during his bootcamp. Now he made a more permanent flag with brotherhood and Cole's name, the Burnsville "B" with plenty of room for you to show your love and support. I know there is not 1 hockey parent out there who has heard of this tragedy and prayed for all the families. When Cole comes through he may have felt the prayers, but he will visually see the support when he reads the notes and signatures on the banner!! Thank you Sgt. Nellie and may God be with all of us and especially the families of these young men.

In response to the outpouring of support for Cole and his family, an account has been set up to help with Cole's mounting medical expenses. If you are interested in helping, please contact any Wells Fargo branch and ask for the Cole Borchardt Foundation (account ending in 0049).
