Elliott has 2 T's.

And QRF has Waseca as the 5 seed at 9 and 4.

As you said in the original thread/poll, its wide open.
MWest won last year.
Roch Lourdes is the perennial power.
They are 8 & 9 in the QRF, but I would not count either one out.

I'd throw out
St Peter, MEast, LaC, Win, Red Wing and Austin.

New Prague has to be the favorite.
So in MDAO that leaves 7 teams that have a shot.
What fun will be this section be?!?!

3A does not compare.

Maybe he's working off of this ranking system, Elliott with two Ls and two Ts. Yes, I know the records are wrong. It's not my website.

Not my fault Mitch's computer has a bug and puts Waseca in the wrong place.
If Lee would get off his butt and enter some page stat numbers then we would have the best rankings to go by.

But any system used still points to things being pretty open.
6A and 1A should be fun.

8A belongs to EGF.
3A to Hutch.
7A to HTown.
4A is Maht's.

2A Breck or perhaps Delano

5A Who cares?

I gaurantee Lourdes will be ranked at least at four or five. They seem to get a higher rank because of strength of schedule! I hate to see them win section again!

My vote has not been decided yet.

I would give New Prague the edge right now, but I wouldn't count out Lourdes, Northfield, or Faribault! Will be very interesting toward the end of the season.

As of right now, I'd say it is the Trojans to lose. The thing that always concerns me with them is their inability to score. That keeps this somewhat open. If they can find their offense, no team in this section should be competing with them.

Roy - I totally agree with your assessment. But it is Ironic that within two hours of your post regarding New Prague's lack of scoring punch, they light up LDC for 10 goals

According to some hockey experts the 95-96 birth year crop of hockey players, were a talent rich group of graduating seniors that haven't been seen in awhile in one group. Hit the AA and A both hard for this year. I believe it is really evident in section 1A. Alot of parity this year.

No love for faribault or Mankato East, Albert Lea? I don't think new Prague is a lock like many do. The closer to postseason we get we will see if the have trouble scoring like they have had for most the season. The teams listed earlier keep it close and get a bounce and boom new Prague is done. Seems the games in the section have been mostly one goal games.

I give Mankato west no chance to make the finals. Seen them play three games against one good team and two average teams and they looked average in all three games

I give faribault and albert lea a better chance then west.

Mankato west beat austin 2-1. Really are they a contender? I think not! I don't see them making quarterfinals . If they do they will lose by 2 or 3 goals in semis.

I think New Prague is the team to beat in this section!

This section doesn't have the quality of depth it has had in some of the past years.

Last night NP got light up by Delano, a good team.

Last night west tied Lourdes in Roch, (going by the stats it looks like it was an even game) west could steal some games in playoffs with a good goalie.

Faribault tied Waseca last night, Waseca's coach might have given them a little extra motivation, (a former staff member of Faribault)

East gave up a goal with 8 seconds left to lose to Owatonna 2-1

Northfield lost to mayo 4-1

I said NP is the team to beat in the section, but I have this feeling like it will be a surprise team that will win 1A. (I have not seen NP play this year, just going off scores)

I'm telling you its Northfield.

Put your money on 'em.

I agree, the winner will not be the big three from the last few years. It won't be Lourdes, new Prague, or west. The teams are all even this year and I see a faribault, northfitld, or albert lea being the section champ.

Lourdes is not the same team from the last three or four years. They used to finish off teams when they had them down, they were up h two against west and held on for the tie. They were up by three on Saint Cloud cath early in the season and lost that game, many other games where they have been ahead or had great pressure on their opponent but could not put them away. Don't have killed instict this year.

West is slower than last year and have a real problem in their defensive zone . They clear their zone by banking it off the boards nine out of ten times and often get caught in their zone. I hsbe seen them play three games and in each one they have shown this. Also this team is not very good at receiving or making passes. Often they slap pucks around and work hard to get offensive zone time by making bad passes.

New Prague is the best of these three but has trouble scoring and that can always keep games close in section playoffs. The record against ranked teams is average at best and they are not dominating anyone in the section. Whenever you keep games close you have a chance .

I think that more than any other section in the state that it will come down to goaltending. There is one maybe two proliferic scoring teams in the section, so the team with a great goaltender will get hot and run through the section.
