How many goals will North win by? I'll say LN 7-0.

Maybe if the game was in Duluth? But since it's not, I'll go with 5-2 LN, with 3 of their goals coming in the 3rd period.

LN put up 2 against Eagan.
The should be able to score 3 against DEast.
DEast by 4-3.

Sadly, havent been following my old alma mater Hounds after their poor start. Havent decided whether to truck on down to Kenwood Trail early Tuesday night or not. Could have a full house down there as more metro fans descend on Ames, more and more hoping to be there for the upset and more and more wanting to be there to order Panther 31 game cool aid at concession.
Wish I had better confidence in Howg. My impressions, right or wrong, was that his Elite season was worse than his regular season last year, and same so far this year. In his defense, probably less top talent D protection this year on Hound roster?
Is LaMaster everything people said he would be, and is he logging equal minutes with Spencer and Donovan?
Who on the Hounds can get by LV Dmen, and then snipe one into upper corner past Edquist?
Anyway, I threaded a 3 goal predicted margin over PL, and was right on counting the empty netter. Against the Hounds with home advantage, I will say 4 goal LVN margin, BUT always a 10% chance of an upset due to Mike Randolph, and if Howg has a hot night, and if maybe a couple of flu bugs hit the Panthers.
Curious, would Luke Dow ever been on the same sheet of ice as any of the Panther D1s? Must have been at some point, I suppose....

Sophomore goalie Kirk Meierhoff has started the last 5 games for the Hounds. He has been playing decent and I would expect him to start vs. LVN

Thanks T. I., had looked at the Hub data and figured theyd been rotating.
Not much diff in W-L or Save %? ( Wouldnt be the first time Randolph sat down his #1 goalie during the middle of the season.)
Insight on other questions?
Who has to come thru big on D? And who is best pure corner net sniper with quickest release for the Hounds? Cause thats about all the look they will have at Edquist.

I think East's biggest problem is their defense. It has been pretty shaky all year. Not sure anyone has stepped up. As for goal scoring, I think Dow is leading the team in goals. The production up front hasnt been too great either.
LVN vs. De

Long bus ride to Lakeville followed by longer bus ride home to Duluth
LVN - 7
DE - 1
This one is going running time...

Top D pair seems to be settled as Donovan-Lutzka. Spencer is on the 2nd pair. 5 other D-men have been rotated through the other spots, but LaMaster has probably had the most ice time of all of them.
The offense hasn't exactly been great, but the forwards are being asked to help out the defensemen a fair amount of the time, which will depress scoring. Stats are a bit misleading when it comes to judging the offensive talent on hand.
I'm working on a longer post on East's season to date, which will be along shortly.

LN 5-2. East is a prideful program, no chance they get blown out. They will bring everything they got.

Lakeville North will score 3 early goals in the first and cruise to a simple win.
6-0 final.

LN needs a scare or two in the last month of play. Maybe Farmington will give them one in a couple of games.
Watched the game against EV and yes North 0-6 but the 5on5 play in the game was brutal, North looked totally disinterested. And the South Suburban schedule from here on out will provide much of the same.
They should have scheduled a couple of those tougher non conference games down the stretch.

Have to figure that East will score I suppose. However, I see them getting handed by Lakeville North.
LVN 8
East 1

2-0 North after 2. Shots are predictably lopsided--first period was just survival mode for the Hounds, but Howg (who is back in net) is playing very well. The second was a bit more competitive with East generating real chances, and Edquist is on his game as well.
East has some carryover 5-on-3 time headed to the 3rd. I'm pretty happy with their effort so far.
