Big Games and Your Predictions - Week 11

One week closer to playoff glory. 16 games this week, with several intriguing matchups. #1A Blake vs. #3A Breck is always compelling and the EP games vs. two Lake Conference foes are not gimmees for the Eagles, although I'm sure they'll be favored in both. #4AA Hlll-Murray @ #5AA Wayzata is also a tough call. With that in mind, I'm selecting #5AA Wayzata @ #1AA Eden Prairie as the Biggest Game of the Week (highest AA rankings as well as highest combined KRACH rankings).
Note that I realize that today's game between St. Paul United and Dodge County should have been included in the contest, but there isn't sufficient time for everyone to make their selections. No slight intended towards anyone associated with these two fine schools.

Dear Prognosticators,
When picking scores for Lake conference games don't waste opportunities thinking either team will score more than 3 goals. Other than a crazy free-for-all between Wayzata and Hopkins (3-6) all but one game ended with a goal margin of 2 or less and all but two ended with the winning team scoring three or less. I suggest using 2-1 or 3-2 (47% of all games) unless you think it will be a blowout. For those games use 3-1 (20%).

Thanks so much luckyepdad for that inside info. We are so so grateful just to live in a state that has the lake conf. The teams are so good and all should go to state but the MSHSL cant fig it out. The players and goalies are so good in the Lake conf it makes it hard to even predict the games. Im going to keep trying though. Its just hard for those teams in the Lake to play eachother night after night. They are so evenly matched and try so much harder then any other teams in the state.

Week after week I see predictions that Lake teams are going to rack up big scores. That never happens so I thought there must be a lack of information available to you prognosticators and you could use some help. Since every Lake conference game makes it into this contest and there are five games involving Lake teams on the list this week you can change your ways or lose to MNHockeyFan again. Again. Again.

Sage advice, Lucky, but when I pick a 3-2 game, it's invariably 3-1. If I pick a 2-1 game, it's 2-0 or 2-2. Or, I miss the correct score due to an EN goal. I'm just happy if I can pick the right team; that's challenging enough. I think it's better for me to rely on a semi-trained monkey to pick the scores for me this season.
Of course, now that I think about it, if we all assume that all the games will be low-scoring this week (and history does indeed tell us that), all of the games will probably be of the 5-3 variety.

Of course, now that I think about it, if we all assume that all the games will be low-scoring this week (and history does indeed tell us that), all of the games will probably be of the 5-3 variety.
A few years ago I tried this contest and had good success using 3-1 as the score for every game. I wasn't great a picking winners, but I got a lot of scores right. With the girl's game getting more physical and defenses crowding the neutral zone the scores for games I watch are dropping. Sure you still see one team score 9-10 goals in a mismatch, but for the games in this contest the scores are staying pretty low.
36Guy is funny. EP won't score 12 goals total for the remaining 4 games.
