Pretty sure that the 3AA meeting is always the Saturday morning before playoffs start, which would make it Feb 14 this year.

Probably the wrong thread but... Is there a common criteria that coaches have to use to seed? Does the MSHSL have guidelines for the coaches to follow? I get that there usually a top and a bottom... But what are the key factors they take in to consideration? Or can a group of coaches band together to black ball a team they don't like?

I think in 7AA they defer to Mike Randolph if there is any controversy.

Yes, they could conceivably gang up on one team if they so chose, but despite the conspiracy theories floating around this forum, it rarely happens. Mostly it's just an honest difference of opinion on a team, or perhaps an established power getting some benefit of the doubt based on reputation. And once in a while a coach will pull something odd (like Cloquet's Dave Esse putting Elk River at #3 in 7AA last year), perhaps because they want a certain match-up or something.
Some sections have everyone meet up and debate this, while others just send in their ranks electronically. Teams vote for everyone other than themselves. The MSHSL has moved to using the QRF computerized rankings in some sports, but not so much in hockey. This is a good thing, as QRF is not so great for hockey.
Records against teams in one's section--especially head-to-head games with other contenders--are usually the most important thing. Strength of schedule and improvement over the course of a year are also commonly used factors. And, of course, there's Mike Randolph's aura of power and intimidation.
