Took down, Hill and now STA. Hard to argue otherwise.

Goaltending appears to have been a major issue for STA in giving up 4 goals on 9 shots in the first period. Very tough to start out in a deep hole and recover against a solid team like The Zephs. Nice job a Zephers!Just Checking wrote:No excuses here. They are a good team. They had 8-10 high quality chances and buried 5. 4 for 5 in the first period on 10 shots.
STA had 14-16 (no exaggerating) and a number of PPlays and could only bury 3 on 34shots. Mahtomedi goalie played a very good game. Obviously he did the same to HM. Good combo, finish your chances and good/great goaltending.
Hats of to the Zephers.
Best team in state no, but in A, quite possibly.
It will happen, it's Karma.Imported from MN wrote:They play well in their own Barn. The whole cart before the horse analogy comes to mind when you want to anoint them the best team in the state. They have split with the two best teams they have played and tied DM. The upcoming Tartan game should be interesting. They are a threat but it is a home game for Maht so who knows. Either way keeping Hermantown as the runner up is a victory for everyone.
Why is that a victory for everyone? They probably won't move up until they win another championship.Imported from MN wrote:They play well in their own Barn. He's a junior.Tenoverpar wrote:JACK BECKER for MR HOCKEY
why not, he's the catalyst of the Zeph's
he's on the NHL draft list
he's a hometown kid playing in a small school...let's be honest if he was at Hill or STA he would be a poster child of the MSHSL
Don't bother him with details...he's on a roll.BP wrote:He's a junior.Tenoverpar wrote:JACK BECKER for MR HOCKEY

Mahtomedi is one of if not the largest A school in size at 1,143 students and has the largest youth program of any A school with 4 BN and 6 PW teams.hshockeyfan53 wrote:Why is that a victory for everyone? The Zeph's have an enrollment of almost 1,200 which is close to the automatic bump to AA. It shouldn't be a big surprise that they have been very successful in single A.
With all due respect, they are far from overrated . . . the talent level is outstanding, however, Mahtomedi played their systems extremely well and buried almost every good opportunity, exactly what they need to do against Hermantown.elliott70 wrote:STA is overrated.
This comes up every year when a class A team gets hot.hockeyguy272 wrote:Wins over:
Cretin 7-5
Breck 3-1
Rapids 5-3
Hill 4-0
Stillwater 8-2
Now STA 5-3
This team is for real and arguably a top 7 or 8 team for A/AA
But the uniforms are ugly.hockeyguy272 wrote:With all due respect, they are far from overrated . . . the talent level is outstanding, however, Mahtomedi played their systems extremely well and buried almost every good opportunity, exactly what they need to do against Hermantown.elliott70 wrote:STA is overrated.

STA started their #1 goalie and he got yanked mid-first period after giving up 3 goals on 6 shots. Then their #2 played rest of the game.bauerman wrote: STA played their backup goalie and wthl HM coming up was somewhat of a trap game for them
