Video clips from 1977 State High School Hockey Tournament quarterfinal game between Edina-East and Roseau. The Rams featured Neal Broten, Aaron Broten and Butsy Erickson. Hornets featured Gordie Hampson, Dave Terwilliger, Mel Pearson, Bret Bjerken, Steve Carroll.

1. Goalies were so bad back then. Why was Roseau's goalie facing backwards?
2. Neal Broten can't finish

Carroll was a stud.....love how thin the goalies are. not much padding.

Thanks for sharing those great highlights.
Those were great tournaments in that era. Edina, Roseau, Grand Rapids, Roch JM, Hill-Murray, SSP had very strong teams.
You probably don't want to hear this as you were on the other side of it... but as a Rochester hockey fan growing up, that 1977 Title for JM was every bit the Miracle of 1980. No southern (south of metro) team had won the title before and none has ever won the big school title since. Shots in the final were ~40-15 for Edina and JM must have blocked another 30 or more shots.
If you do find the VHS, I'd love to get a copy.

What else do you have? I'm collecting tournament games and have a good amount from 89-Present. Anything before that would be great if you could help out.
