How do you think this team will be next season? There is a lot of returning young talent, and they have a pretty good goalie coming back in Kirk Meirhoff.
Can they make the 8 peat happen?

They will always have a chance withe Randolph at the helm.I think next years team could be just as good and maybe better..

Any idea on key "off-season acquisitions" candidates?

I've heard there might be some transfers from Marshall... Who already reside in the East side anyways. they want to play for Randolph. I wouldn't be suprised if another goalie came to town too.
I don't think it will matter though... This team is primed for another run through the section.

May as well hand the trophy over already.
All other schools may as well cut all seniors next year and start developing the kids for 2017.

Is Randolph returning for another year? I think that is the real question regarding East.

Yes. Like this year, he will miss some games due to his son playing in Omaha, but he will still be the head coach.
Even if some reason he didn't, the Hounds assistant coaches have been watching Randolph for years and I think they would make tremendous head coaches themselves.

As long as East gets to play it's Section Quarter Final, Semi Final and Final game in Duluth every year in front of their home crowd they will always be the favorite.
Randolph is a great coach but doesn't hurt at to have 3 to 1 East fans at each section game every year. Would like to see his record if he had to play the semis or finals on a metro rink.
It's amazing all the rules the High School league incorporates to give everyone a chance they allow this to go on every year.

I agree with this 100% ... but the go-to argument is "where else are you going to play this?"
Wouldn't Grand Rapids be able to host? Vadnais heights? Blaine Superrink? It seems only fair to move it around.
BUT with the Duluth fans packing the joint and buying lots of ticket$$$ ... good luck moving it.

I would argue that Grand Rapids fans often outnumber East fans at Amsoil Arena. Closer to even in section finals, but semi-finals Rapids has the most. Really sick of the home ice argument anyways. Rapids won in 06 and 07, with the games in Duluth. Granted 06 Cloquet beat East for us, but anyways, just got to win no matter if Amsoil Arena or playing on an outdoor rink in Bagley.

This season in review:
http://apatientcycle.com/2015/03/09/the ... in-review/
They'll be in good shape for next season. Barring any surprises, their highest-scoring line returns intact, along with 5 of 6 defensemen, their highest-scoring freshman in 15 years, and a couple of other young players who were looking pretty good by season's end. Meierhoff is the heir apparent in goal, though Randolph isn't one to just hand a goalie the job without proving himself first.
I won't speculate too much further unless something changes. In fact, as much as I enjoy it, I'm looking forward to a little vacation from nonstop predictions and ranking deadlines.

You guys are 100 percent correct it is very unfair but nobody at MSHSL is concerned about the subject. Follow the money!

I heard a couple of the better Grand Rapids players will transfer so they can play in St. Paul!

East travels more than any team in the state and they don't whine. They get tough and find a way to win.
East brought fans to the State Tournament and made the place seem like a home rink. If ER would bring some fans to the AMSOIL then maybe it would seem like a home rink to ER. Quit the complaining, travel more during the season and don't play a bunch of 2nd tier teams at the end of the season before playoffs and you might just find yourself at State. But, then you would have to find fans to travel to St. Paul
