Jaxon Nelson commits to Minnesota
Congrats to Jaxon. Lots of upside.
Can't believe I beat some of you to it. Cue the 3A nerds in 3, 2, 1......

Great Day for Section 3A Hockey.
Here is the article from Youth Hockey Hub on the Nelson commitment to the U of M:
http://www.youthhockeyhub.com/news_arti ... ferrer_id=
As far as where will Nelson play next: After Talking with Nelson the YHH Article shined some light on this.
" Speculation has always been rampant on where Jaxon will be headed next. Most think he will stay with Luverne as a Sophomore and decide between the USNDTP in Ann Arbor or the USHL after that process unfolds next Spring."
Looks like Nelson will be around next year and be leaving after that. I really encourage the fans of 3A to get out to rink next year and check out Nelson and Smedsrud while they are still around. If Smedsrud comes back for his Senior year they should be fun duo in 3A to watch.
Congratulations Young Mr. Nelson!

Yes, but that still doesn't mean I agree with the trend. Lots of pressure on kids these days, many of whom still haven't had their first HS class! The Exiled One wrote:Isn't Nelson older now than Ryan Poehling was when he committed?Sats81 wrote:Congrats to him. The trend of kids committing younger however, continues.....yet average entry age of freshman is getting older.
Agreed. These kids haven't even driven a car (legally), and yet they're asked to know themselves well enough to decide what college(s) may or may not be a good fit for them.Sats81 wrote:Yes, but that still doesn't mean I agree with the trend. It cuts both ways, though, and kids de-commit just as some programs put kids in limbo on their path to securing a roster spot that may not be there when expected.

Sadly Most of rochesters top end talent heads to Shattuck after peewees.WestMetro wrote:Somebody had made a post during the section playoffs that Don Lucia was at Augsburg watching three a instead of watching six AA at Mariucci. Now we know why. Also, this is a big statement for what Outstate Minnesota can do, RochChester are you listening?
