Well, that's disappointing. It looked like you were going full-blown homer, but you didn't include the 14U MAP team, which, if it's the 01MG team, beat the 02 Machine more than once last year.

Don't know the other ages very well but have a daughter playing in the u12 tier 2 and the gold 04 would be my bet, I also like the MN Edge over Gold 03 at the u12 tier 1

First night of ICup under the belt in 14u Tier 1:

02 Machine Orange over 01 Ice Cougars 6-1. Shots were 32-14.

MAP Monarchs 14U tie 1-1 with Skate To Excellence Red. I watched part of that MAP/STE game. The little bit that I saw STE was the better team.

Was at the Machine Orange/IC game Machine orange is really good. IC third line and 3rd set of d -6. IC looked tired. Hannah Chorske had a hand in 4 of the 6 machine goals. Interesting to watch. Kenzie Malone is a difference maker Very good at transition. Should have been playing at this level all apring/summer.

In hindsight, they would have done well in 14U this spring, however, I guess I'll cut them a little slack regarding the trophy chaser label given by some. They were a pretty good 12U team as first year 12s last year, but they didn't set the world on fire - they struggled a little bit here and there. I don't think it was a no-brainer that they should just leap to 14s, I think it's fine that they played 12s in the spring then play up in the fall - it is what the machine has often done with teams in that transition year, including I believe the 2000 team (and the 01s before most left to Os). Let's at least see how the rest of the weekend goes.

14U ICup Update

Northern Storm over Jr Admirals 4-0
MAP Monarchs over Machine 02 2-1
STE Red over Jr. Admirals 7-0
Ice Cougars over Northern Storm 3-2

Emily Wisnewksi from Wayzata for MAP stood out today. She has come along way in the last couple years and has turned out to be a very very good player.

What "north" are the Northern Storm representing? Are the Ice Cougars 14u the oldest team in that organization? Admirals are Team WI, correct?

Northern Storm is Duluth Area. 01 Ice Cougars is that clubs oldest team and the Jr. admirals is the Milwaukee Tier 1 team.

MAP leads in size and strength, by a wide margin. Outmuscled a faster and better skating team this am. I know that's a very new program. If they get some skating instruction and hands, they could top their age group. IC has a goalie who can win a game single handedly. Awesome. The Duluth team has a great goalie too. STE is prob best team here. IMHO. The 12 and 14s level hockey has spoiled me for 10u. Lots of young talent.

NTMH, MAP has been around three years. It is a program that is committed to individual skill development. See the link for details.

This is the first year they have been entered into any tournaments. They definitely are not all about trying to win tournaments. They don't have team practices, no set lines, no set coaches on the bench. I would disagree that they outmuscled a faster and better skating team. MAP was the faster/better skating team. MAP did however lack the team & systems play, which most likely would improve by playing together more.

I'm familiar, thanks. I meant this was the first year they fielded AAA teams. I saw them play about 5 periods. IMHO they have the biggest upside but this weekend were fourth best skating team. Just my opinion. Other than Machine I think a lot of these summer tourney teams are ad hoc and constantly adding and subtracting players around other summer commitments. Not practicing much as a team. I wasn't criticizing your program.
