Edina over Elk 4-0 with 2 empties tonight. Good game - tied going into 3rd 0-0. Both teams lack higher end scoring. There will be a lot of teams after EP and BSM you could toss in a hat and pull out for #3 to #15. These are 2 of them.

Didn't stay for this 2nd game, but was surprised Elk kept it as close as they did , especially with Murray injury. Meyers must have had a great night in goal. Or did Edina forwards have an off nite? Or both?

Honestly, it was a pretty flat game. The Elks actually had the better of the chances in the first, and got a good second period out of Meyers. They're your classic hardworking Elks team, but minus Murray, Zerban is their only real quality finisher, and they couldn't get one past DeGrood.

Edina struggles to generate a lot of zone time when its top line isn't on the ice, and Phillips' healthy scratch certainly didn't help...the D core just doesn't have the assertiveness on the breakout that we're used to out of the Hornets. If Eden Prairie can't beat them in the Holiday Classic tonight, they probably never will.

What's the story behind the healthy scratch?
