Since this game is becoming interesting, thought I would make it it's own topic.

Teams ties 3-3 with 6:00 left in the 2nd.

Sullivan nets his 2nd of the game to put DM up 4-3.

4-3 Marshall end of 2nd. GR comes back with about a minute of a power play to start the 3rd

4-4. GR scores right aa the man advantage expires.

Quite the flurry toward the end of the 3rd. Miller hits one off the post. 3:30 left in regulation.

4-4.....headed to overtime.

Miller finds the back of the net for the 5-4 OT win.

Great game. Grand Rapids controlled most of the play, especially after the 1st period, and at the end of the game. Marshall played very well, probably their best performance of the season to date.

Marshall is a strong four seed in the section, and could create some problems come February. Especially if they can build on these types of games.

Rapids has a ton of talent, but need to figure out their team chemistry if they are going to do any damage at state. Too much talent.....it would be a shame if they do not get it together for a solid state run.

Unfortunately, I did not get to make a trip to Duluth, so watched on TV. It looked like Rapids came out really flat to start the game. Perhaps some in attendance can provide better insights.

Apparently, Klatt is figuring out how to motivate the T-hawks, because they came out on fire in the second period....then flattened out again....then fired up again. It looked like they were pretty much in control the 3rd and o/t.

It was a good game with positives for both teams and some sources of concern. The more I see Micah Miller, the more I think he is a "heart-and-soul" type of guy for the team. He brings an audacity to the team they have lacked for about 4 or 5 years.

I am excited to see how Rapids does this weekend against Wayzata and WBL.

Marshall got off to a quick start and took a 2-0 lead. GR did a nice job of staying with it and were eventually able to get the win.
They have done pretty well at winning the games they are supposed to win this year.

grindiangrad-80, first period they looked like they wanted to fall back into that "coast to a win" effort. Left the young tender out to dry. Evidently Mr. Klatt and staff know how to wake this group up. Tough job for coaches to keep a boot up your backside game in and game out. Reason I am not a believer in a 6 game run late February early March for the "injuns". At some point your leaders have to pull their own weight.

They're teenagers. Can you give an example of a team that plays hard every period in HS hockey, or even the NHL for that matter? Even Duluth East played their worst period of hockey in the section semi-finals last year according to their coach.

I honestly have a hard time thinking of a game that the LN team that went 31-0 last didn't play hard....or even a period for that matter.

I watched the game on the webstream also. No question Marshall came out early and did a nice job. I didn't notice a lack of effort as much as a lack of execution. Their passes weren't as crisp early on but as the game went on it improved greatly. I could be wrong (just a fan). Sometimes you have to tip your hat to the other team. JMHO

8-0-0 against unranked opponents. They have beat everyone they should have. They've lost a couple 50-50 games (coming in). This team is 19 games in and has only 3 regulation losses.

Apples and oranges comparison DJ. 25 game schedule and 80 game schedule such a significant difference they do not compare.

Lakeville North
Eden Prairie
Hermantown

Minnetonka

North woods I agree with your take. GR is talent loaded and potential loaded. The biggest issue is with the SR's not leading by example. It almost seems like they are a team built on we have more skill all the way growing up and somewhere along the lines never grasped the shift in shift out mentality.

Please add Hibbing to your list of teams that play hard shift in and shift out or some step daddy on here is going to pout n cry.

Agreed. The only 2 games I saw where they were not really in the game much were against Eden Prairie and Hermantown. They have been plenty of fun to follow otherwise. I think they will be in the picture for a few years to come. Hopefully, they can peak in about 4-6 weeks.

No debate here. I know when peruni is playing even partially well Hibbing has the upper hand but if he has a off day look out cause the lunch pail kids with no talent may just end our jackets season.
