Solid so far by Jim Erickson. Love how Lou can work in how he watched some game from some exotic location.

The stream on prep45.com is awful. Missed almost all of the first period of b'ville vs Wayzata. Waste of 15 dollars.

I agree! I do not remember it being this bad last year

Is TV coverage broadcast in HD at all? SE MN / Charter is non HD (channel 192). Crappy. Unless it's on a different channel?

If I remember from past years it is pretty bad during the day on Thursday and Friday. I missed the first period as well, it wouldn't load. Following grindians suggestion I turned down the setting to 300 and it's been much better with no lagging or buffering like I had during the first game.

So we pay for a product that doesn't work?

The Prep45 stream has been horrible. If you are going to charge people to use a product then it should work as advertised...

Curious when 45 contract ends. Would love to see FSN get the TV rights. Needs to be in HD.

Only problem with that is then it can only be viewed with a cable or satellite subscription. FSN doesn't allow streaming on a computer or mobile device as far as I'm aware.

Best part of the tournament so far is the couple new commercials that have been played 200 times each. Pretty sure I was rehearsing them in my sleep last night again.

Tonight I only have a 450 option. Definitely not working smooth tonight.

They extended it to 2021 back in 2009. Something tells me the league doesn't like to negotiate these things.

It is in HD in and around the Twin Cities. Excellent PQ.

It's my understanding that for some time now the contract has covered all televised tournaments, boys/girls hockey, b/g basketball and football. MSHSL may not have a whole lot of bidders. In the one class era the hockey contract was bid separately. It was always the subject of some intrigue. When the tourney was split, it really diminished the value to any broadcaster.

My guess is that TV viewership parallels ticket sales, and I can't believe that there is much money to be made selling ads for the girls games or AA boys. I'm not talkin' smack about those events, just looking at it the way and ad sales guy does. The Super Bowl gets better ratings than the Stanley Cup, but I know which I'd rather watch.

The way basketball has been so watered down with 4 classes, and being overshadowed by NCAA March Madness, I doubt there is much money to be made there, either.

The coverage for the most part is fine. Don't go to FSN: it should stay on free tv

But jeez do they have to show the same 4 commercials over and over?

It is too bad they aren't able to sell ad time to some additional sponsors. But I suppose the reason they can't is because there isn't much demand from other companies to be one of the sponsors, and this is probably due to the so-so ratings the telecasts draw? (then again, the hockey tourneys are the only time I tune into to Channel 45, and I doubt that I'm alone in this regard!)

The only other reasons for them having to run the same commercials over and over would be (a) their sales people don't do a good enough job of reaching out to additional advertisers, and/or (b) the station is asking too much for the ad time they're trying to sell, and so they can't get other companies to bite.

Sorry to bump a year old thread but there was news on this earlier. KSTC and the MSHSL have extended there TV contract through the 2030-31 school year.
