Great to hear this. Sounds like a win-win for both schools, and hopefully they can make the jump to a varsity schedule after a year.

I don't know anything about SWC. Will this co-op be A or AA?

SWC

Probably Class A co-op.

If they are AA, they will likely be placed in the 2AA meat grinder.

I'd say for at least the first year it doesn't matter A or AA because it's really for the playoffs and if they're JV only there won't be playoffs. They can make whatever schedule they want during the regular season.

I am very pleased they are doing this. Richfield was Class A before this season and I don't know what class SW Christian is but I would be shocked if a varsity startup goes AA in a year or two when they make the jump.

Current enrollments, per the MSHSL (so already including the free/reduced lunch adjustments) are 832 at Richfield and 257 at SW Christian, for a total of 1,089. Unless one of them grows significantly before they realign again, they should be under the cutoff. Not by a ton, granted, but they do have some wiggle room.
