Rumor has it the a player for Moorhead that was from International Falls is going home to graduate with his class... anyone know the facts behind this?

If this is the case, something needs to be changed with the transfer policy!

Congrats to AHA....

And once again... my sympathy to the Spuds! This one really had to hurt!

-The slinger

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... slinger at: 3/6/05 8:58 pm

Drew Fishers the only one i can think of that is from I. Falls. But to use MHD high for just hockey and then to not graduate it, that would be a move that might tarnish his image. He wouldnt be very welcomed back up to I. Falls and I dont blame them.

I agree that is awful if he goes back to IFalls to graduate. If it is technically legal now, the MSHSL needs to start changing something, otherwise kids are going to start playing football for one school, hockey for another school, and run track for a 3rd school. Thats too bad if its true.

curious

yeah, it was Fisher I heard about... I just wonder if anyone has any info on it... I really think if he did choose to go back that the state of Minnesota has to take a different approach to the transfer rule...

-The Slinger

Oh, Gunslinger......You will catch it for your spelling of Moorhead. Was a big deal in another thread. I guess I'm just giving you a bad time.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

p.s. your AHA prediction was right on.

(Love my Jags)

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... cuda701 at: 3/6/05 8:36 pm

I'm almost positive that there is something against this. I know that he couldn't play a spring sport w/o sitting out 1/2 the season. I thought about doing this with a sport at ER, then going to Rogers and when I looked into it it didn't work out perfectly. Hopefully someone can clear this up.
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

If he is a senior, and plans to play in no spring sports, what does it matter... who can stop him... what are they going to say... no you cant go to I.F. and graduate. After all, his parents live thier....!!

haha, just good luck fitting back in with your old hockey friends up there after ditching them to play for a better team. dont get me wrong, i think fishers a great player...but this would be a move i think he'd regret.

slinger i'm sure that technically there is nothing wrong with it under the rules, but I hope that he realizes what a new low he will be taking this "transferring just for sports" era in high school sports to. If he was going to do that he should have played juniors this year and saved some integrity for HS Hockey.

Not flute, Clarinet <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

I think he would have trouble with not only the hockey players, but the entire school. Its almost like he didn't have enough pride in the school and now he wants them to welcome him back.
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

my point

my point in this, is that this should NOT be an option. If this is possible then something is wrong with the system.. I think the spuds will be under a lot of scrutiny is this happens....

-The Slinger

Yes he should be ashamed and so should his family, and whoever he was living with that allowed him to come to Moorhead, it was a police officer or something wasnt it? I hope the Moorhead coaches/players can honestly say they had no idea he was going to do this.

I could be mistaken but I thought something like this had already happened. I thought some kid played football, basketball and baseball for 3 different schools. Can anyone verify this?

The fact of the matter is that Minnesota High Schools are trying to keep kids from going to Juniors, and now they can just transfer to the best schools as seniors and then go back and graduate with their class... boy, that sounds a lot like juniors anyway.... geeeeeeesh!

-The sligner

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... slinger at: 3/6/05 8:57 pm

He could have. He'd sit out 1/2 the season for the 2nd & 3rd sports. I don't doubt that it has happended. I too hope that MSHSL looks into their transfer policy and changes something. This shouldn't be happening.
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls
