MG is 17-5 playing a challenging schedule. Calling them an 'an interesting team' is a slight. They're a damn good one.karl(east) wrote:Maple Grove 6, East 2, Final. Shots 42-18 East (yes, you read that right).
East dominated the first 20+ minutes of the game, got a goal from Worth, and the wheels promptly fell off. Maple Grove knifed through the defense with breakaways and odd-man rushes galore, and it was 5-2 by the end of the 2nd. East's defense has been a strength most of the year, but MG turned it into a clown car for half a period, and that was that. Meierhoff gave up 5 goals on 11 shots, but really wasn't the issue. So, I guess time will tell if this was just a crazy lapse or a sign of bigger concerns.
MG is an interesting team...really couldn't sustain a forecheck at all, but players like Huff and Kelley can snipe, and they've got a star in the making in Haider, their freshman goaltender. As long as they can hang around, they may have nice odds in 5AA.
Oh, yes, of course they're good. It was more that I was finding how they're doing it interesting.Goldyismoldy wrote:MG is 17-5 playing a challenging schedule.
