Not nearly as much intrigue here as in 8AA, but Cloquet-Marshall should be a good game, and Andover-Grand Rapids could be a good game, depending on which version of the Thunderhawks shows up. Thoughts?

I think you summed it up pretty well. Cloquet and Marshall should be a very good game. I would give the edge to Cloquet because I think their young players are starting to gain a lot of confidence.
If the early season Thunderhawks play tonight they will be hard to beat. If the later season version shows up they will have a tough time getting past tonight.
Should be interesting either way.

Both teams double up on shots after the 2nd. Rapids pops one in.
2-1 Rapids after 2. Shots 40-9.
Playing with a lot of energy and much more disciplined tonight.

4-2 Rapids final. Shots 51-14. Dominated and controlled play all night. Best effort and team play in probably a month or more. Much more disciplined tonight. Only took two penalties that resulted in some pp time for Andover but they didn't last long as Rapids worked enough to draw one of their own. Looking forward to Saturday.

Update from Cloquet?
I guess I should have waited 2-seconds.

How did my St. Francis Franciscans do tonight?

Sometimes I wonder why Marshall is in double A. Doesn't make much sense.
Especially with Hermantown possibly moving up, they should think about moving back down to 7A. This section is too hard for them, and it's going to get harder and harder to recruit players.

Hey, they're trying to approach Hill-Murray's prowess in the area

Any report on the the goal that tied it up for Cloquet. Sounds like DM wanted a whistle? Knivvy?

I'm still under cardiac arrest in my car. A big pile up in front of the net and a ref pointing infatically at the net for a goal to tie it up for CEC. Sights and sounds later! What an atmosphere from Carlton city. Duluth Marshall played very well.

Sounds like the late season reports are accurate that Grand Rapids is less than mediocre and in a total free fall, while Cloquet is red hot and dangerous.

I nearly made the trip to Cloquet tonight, but some stuff came up that would've kept me from making the 7:00 start...still wish I'd made it. Sounds like it was a thriller, and much more entertaining than the snoozefest I watched at Heritage.
Hard to believe this will be only the 2nd East-Cloquet playoff meeting in the past 9 years, after going through a stretch where they played 7 times in 9 years preceding that. And that one meeting in 2013 was a weird and pretty dead one, as off-ice stuff seemed to drain any enthusiasm around the CEC program that season. This year, looks like a different story, and while the two regular season meetings weren't close, the Jacks seem to be trending up while East has been a bit flat lately...it has potential, at the very least.
Between that rivalry renewal and what should be a great GR-ER matchup, this is shaping up to be the most compelling 7AA Semifinal Saturday in a while.

Caught some the highlights on the news of the Cloquet-Duluth Marshall game. How many seconds were left when Cloquet tied it?
