Just seeing if anyone thinks Wayzata has a shot of winning this game.

I saw them both a couple of time this year and what sticks out to me with Wayzata is that they have a good team with some skill but they make a lot of mistakes that hurt them thru ought games. From what I have seen, Edina will eat those mistakes up and win by 3 or 4 goals, lets say 5-2 or 6-2 with an EN. I hope I'm wrong because I'm gonna be there and hope to see a good game.

Each year is a different year, but Edina just seems to play at a different level & speed at Mariucci than their opponents. I know that Wayzata plays on a big sheet for home ice, but I still feel it will be an advantage for Edina.
Wayzata is playing some shut down hockey though. It's almost like they've had their sights on this situation for the past 6 weeks, knowing their fate was going to come down to one shot at Edina.
I like Edina, but won't consider it the Miracle on Ice if Wayzata wins it. They're still the king & they won't be scared of the moment, which is something that I always feel Burnsville was in their section finals vs. Edina.

With Edina's team speed and fast transition game, I just don't see Wayzata keeping it low scoring. Wayzata goalie will literally need to make 50 saves for them to have a chance at pulling this one out.

I think that's the key: can Wayzata keep it low? If I was the house, I'd set their goal o/u at 2.5 and I think most of the money would be on the under.
But they kept Edina to 1 & 3 the last two times they've played them, so 2 or 3 may be enough. I think it's going to have to be. I would be surprised if they got more than 3.

I agree 100% with the notion that Wayzata needs to keep the goal count of Edina to 3 or less to have a chance. They've been playing shut down hockey lately which will be a classic match-up of the unstoppable force vs. the immovable object. All in all I've seen Edina play this year and their speed and depth will get them the win.

I think the Hornets win this one. They have been impressive all year. Then again, I didn't think Wayzata would win the section last year either.

First one to two wins. Interesting that Wayzata's third leading goal scorer, a freshman during the season, didn't make the section roster. OLeary didn't like his defense. This tells you a lot on what Oleary feels is necessary to win this game. A 1-0 game or a 2-1 game. GB

Interesting comparison last year's team to this years. Both years, Wayzata squad had only one player averaging over a point a game--last year Senden this year Ness. Leading goal scorer last year 12 Goals (Schmidt), this year 11 (Ness). Save percentage last year Schilling 89.6; this year Waczenko 89.3. The main difference is that Edina is a lot better team this year versus last year. The scared small Edina players of last year--avoiding the corners and boards, have developed confidence, size and have a little chip on their shoulder. Still think Wayzata has a chance but goaltending and not putting Edina on pp will have a big impact. Of course you can say that about almost all section final games. GB

I mean, it might have surprised some that Wayzata beat Edina in the playoffs, but they did go 4-0 against the Hornets last year so I'm not sure the comparison between this year and last year is quite fair

Anyone have any idea how big the crowd is supposed to be this evening at Mariucci? Will it be easy to walk up and buy tickets in the lobby right before the first game?

Very true Green. The kids in green only needed 1 year to get back to their usual selves again.

Is this a pay per? If so, can you just buy the game or do you need to buy a years worth?

I can't get it to connect. The MSBN audio feed works, so I know Wayzata is up 1-0 after a goal 25 seconds into the game.

Same here. Pretty grainy video. Had a solid connection for about 30 seconds during the first period.

Wayzata up 1-0 after the first.
Wayzata scores like 25 seconds in when a puck bounced around and found a wide open Ness. Edina's Mackey looked shakey at the start, didn't get tested much after. Edina dominated the next 16 minutes. Wayzata is blocking a lot of shots but Edina looks a bit lethargic and sluggish. Passing isn't too crisp. Jungles and boltman look good.
It's weird in that Wayzata doesn't look that great defensively, they are giving Edina te middle of their own zone to shoot and they are getting skated right by, but when the puck is low in their zone they have done well collapsing.
Edina thought they had a goal but the ref waved it off. Waszczenko was pushed in the net but the puck came loose before he was in the net and before a whistle and the puck looked to be put in. Not sure how you would call that

I hope Knivens link to the 7AA game tomorrow nite is better, I think he is using Cube.
Green4 , are you at the game, or streaming? Great comments as usual.

Let's go Hornets, pick it up. We don't want to see that Run N' Gun Wayzata offense at the X this year.

I am at the game 1-1 after 2. Brinkman on a powerplay goal from the point about 20 seconds after he rang one off the pipe. Waszczenko looks good, he stopped moon on a breakaway where I thought he had him beat. Jungles and Crosby have had some chances, Jungels looks great.
Edina again had most of te pressure, I'd say about 80-20. Shots say 18-15 Wayzata but me and the pal I'm with are quite skeptical of that. They just started Doing shots this period during play. I'm down to 5% battery so I might be off for awhile but I'll do a write up when I get home too

Edina looked better in the second period. Wayzata started getting sloppy towards the end of the period with attacks being offside. Could be fatigue. All tied up 1-1 after two periods. Impressed with Waszczenko in net for the Trojans.
