Didn't see a thread dedicated to Section 6A, so here we go.

From last night, Alexandria and Little Falls played to a 3-3 tie in Alexandria.

I was surprised to see that result from Tuesday night. Alexandria is a pretty young team, though, and Little Falls already had two games under their belt. I still think that Alex will emerge as the second seed in the section by the end of the year. Not sure it will matter much since Cathedral looks like they may be one of the top two or three teams in the state.

Alex is dealing with some injuries right now. Definitely had an impact on Tuesdays game. LF has a good first line and has been clicking on the PP, but depth is an issue. Needs some production from the second and third lines, and needs to improve defensively. LF has a good Sr class but needs help from the Jrs and Sophs if they are going to make some noise in the section.

Of significance, LF lost one of its leading scorers to a broken collar bone. Bad news for a team w/o a lot of depth.

Sad to hear that. Collar bones... seen way too many of those broken through the years.

Beginning to look that way. I will finally get a chance to see Alex tomorrow night when they take on East Grand Forks. I know they are not at 100% right now, though.

Yes. Still will be interested in the Sartell - Catherdral game. Alex will be better when they get Doherty back. But it will be hard to compete with the private in this section for a long time. Another example of a single A team drawing the best talent from a AA pool.

The one thing box scores do not give you is injuries/illnesses and players/teams at less than full strength.

I am not sure if any section (double A or single A) is immune to player movement to stronger programs.
And there is no real answer to it.

CHS has.basically a 2 year window. It would be hard to stay playing basically only 2 AA teams, it is hard to find 20 good A teams which there isn't. Warner, motzko will not stay there senior years once they leave others will as well.

That’s a nice result for Sartell. Chaska’s schedule has been pretty weak so far, but they did blow out Breck 5-0. Sartell could be a real wildcard in the section, and may well emerge as the clear number two behind Cathedral.

I think you are right, Stang. I think Sartell is the number 2 right now.

I caught the Alex/EGF game the other night and it was a good one. Both teams really went to playing the body and were able to control play for extended periods of time, EGF probably a little more that Alex, though. Alex had a couple of nice breakouts/stretch plays that caught EGF in deep and were able to score. EGF was very good a their positioning and taking away the passing lanes, and Alex seemed to keep trying to pass the puck rather than getting a shot on net and going for the rebounds.

The game winner in OT was a fluky goal, I am still not sure how it went in. The puck was deflected out in front of Boline and popped into the air. Alex defenders were trying to swat it away from the goal and I don't think Boline had any idea where it was. Next thing I know, the ref was pointing at the back of the net. Not sure if a defender hit it in, a Greenwave player got a stick on it, or if it just plopped behind Boline and in.
