Curious to see how many games still use goal judges? We do here in Roseau, but know there are a few towns around here that don't and I don't believe there were judges at Centennial or Edina (I could be wrong on that). I still find them to be important and wonder is it a money thing or why wouldn't some schools have them?

Never see goal judges at any H-M games. I haven't seen a goal judge for a long time, except for section games.

EGF does not have them. Heard there might have been a goal last night for EGF that the refs never saw and a goal judge would have. The Roseau/Grand Rapids OT game was decided on goal, that may not have been seen without a goal judge. You wonder how many other games throughout the year are decided or not decided because of having or not having the judges?

Greenway still uses goal judges. They are in a cage that is about 10 ft above the goal.

Seems to be more of a northern thing with goal judges for regular season contests. Grand Rapids has them too from highlight clips I have seen.

Goal judges are used in section contests in the metro. Perhaps the most notable use of the goal judge in recent years came in the "hand pass" section game between Eden Prairie and Holy Family at Braemar a few years ago.

Do goal judges have to be MSHSL officials?
