DE on the road, EP better than people think? Yes, probably, but not good enough. DEAST by 3.

Yes the Blaine goalie will suffer sun burn on his neck, the backup goalie will pray the starter does not get pulled. Green by 5.

Can't let my heart dictate to my head. On the road, Hawks lose in OT.

Chaska has this one on paper even with guys out (who I hear are back soon), but Chan has a goalie that can steal a game. Just look at their 2-2 tie with Lakeville South. Add in the emotions of a rivalry game, and this one may be good.

LotW 1, EGF 0 after two. I’m probably jinxing the Bears, but that’s definitely a potential shocker in the making!
Edit: EGF comes back to win 2-1, scoring the winner with under a minute left. Probably inevitable given the disparity in shots, but I still feel bad about mentioning it, kind of like not discussing a no-hitter in progress.

Eden Prairie 4, Duluth East 3, Final. EP popped a couple of quick ones early in the 3rd and hung on for dear life from there. The Hounds left a couple of guys free out front and some rebounds, too.
It goes to show how tightly packed these top teams are. Not a poor effort from East, really, though EP did keep Worth goalless, and WMD seemed overused near the end and gassed. Dietrich made some ridiculous saves down the stretch.
Looks like I need a new #1...

Moorhead 13 Breck 1, what’s wrong with Breck? The Spuds are good but a 12 goal difference?

A lot is wrong with Breck right now. They graduated a strong senior class last year, including their top four scorers (by far). Breck still has plenty of upperclassman, but the talent just isn’t there. New coach this year as well, and it seems like the wheels have just fallen off since the Blake loss. I am not optimistic about the future direction of the program.
Yes, the schedule is difficult, but Breck always plays a tough schedule and still manages to put up impressive records. Heck, they tied Moorhead 3-3 last year.

Thanks for your insight stang, I was surprised by the score because it seemed like Breck was in every game this year, until today, despite the bad record. On a side note I thought it was cool that B.W. did the skol chant with the crowd tonight for a couple seconds.

They musta graduated a bunch of D people as well, shots were 50-8. Felt bad for the goalies.

Yes, Breck had been competitive in most of their games, notably in close losses to Orono and Mahtomedi. However, the Mustangs struggled against decent AA teams like Chaska and STMA, losing 5-0 and 6-2 respectively. So there were some hints early that this wasn’t a great Breck squad. (And apologies for rehashing some of my rant from the Class A rankings thread.)
The Blake game seems to have been a real turning point for the worse, though. Breck gave up four unanswered goals in the third period of what was a tie game, then proceeded to sleepwalk through a 7-1 loss to Providence Academy, of all teams. So they have been outscored 24-2 over the last seven periods. I don’t know what’s going on with the psyche of the team, but it seems like their confidence is completely shot.
In response to Spudnut, Breck graduated three of their top four D-men, and there was a pretty significant drop off from those top two pairings. The goalies are both seniors who are third-year varsity players, but clearly they aren’t getting much help (and haven’t been great themselves).
