Here are a few results of personal interest for me last night.

Buffalo coughed up a 5-3 hairball against a putrid Rogers team. Yuck. That basically seals Buffalo”s fate as the seventh seed in 8AA.

Delano stole a 1-0 win from Cathedral on the road. The Tigers are an interesting and potentially dangerous team. Their entire strategy seems to be to ugly up the game, keep shots to the perimeter and rely on their strong goaltending, and capitalize on any scoring chances they get.

Breck dropped a 2-0 decision to Blake, which qualifies as a moral victory after some of their recent blowout losses. My pops was at the game, and here are a few of his observations. Most notably, the Breck defense was much tighter and less sloppy with the puck. They limited odd man rushes and transition opportunities, which have killed them recently. This Breck team is not especially fast, but they were very physical with the small Blake forwards. The offense was still lackluster, though, and generated only two or three good scoring chances. It’s a stark contrast to the high-octane offenses Breck has traditionally featured in recent years, but the talent isn’t quite there up front.
