Hill-Murray 1, Rapids 0 end of one period. Shots are 12-8 HM. Surprising a fairly even first period. Helgeson blew by everyone for a lone break and the goal.

H-M 2, Rapids 0. Shots 24-11. Pretty much the same as the first period. Hill had a little more zone time. Holum let in a goal he normally wouldn't.

Which is weird, because Roseville had only won one game all season. Great job, boys. Memories forever.

Took in a good one (on paper) with Mark Elliott and enjoyed the company more than the game. Wayzata no-showed and was trounced 5-0 by Minnetonka. Lots of shenanigans so the game was less interesting as it wore on. Kids on the bench howling when their buddy got tossed; it felt like I was watching crap Midget hockey in Florida.
Wayzata had some good chances, including a particularly good one during a 2nd period PP, but couldn't convert. Their results have been quite inconsistent thus far.
Section implications in West Metro:
2AA - Minnetonka has pretty much sewn up top seed and will face someone like Chaska or Prior Lake in the semi. Holy Family appears on the inside track to meet them at Mariucci with Eden Prairie hoping to play the spoiler.
6AA - Edina on top and facing either Benilde, St. Louis Park, or maybe even Blake in the semi. Cretin-Derham Hall in at #2 with an underperforming-yet-capable Trojans squad in the way.
Many thanks to Mark for dinner. First person I've met from this board in 10 years. Nice evening and a great person to talk hockey.

I’m glad to hear that you and Mark had a nice evening, despite the less than stellar performance on the ice, at least from Wayzata. The two of you provide some great insights on the board and that’s cool you were finally able to meet in person.
Wayzata is such a confounding team. Once again it seems like they can shut down nearly anyone, but their offensive challenges make them susceptible to clunker performances like yesterday. Obviously Wayzata has been successful in recent years, particularly against Edina in sections, but it seems like their style of play is more suitable for a less skilled team than they are putting out on the ice. Free up some of those talented forwards, for crying out loud!
Having said that, watch the Trojans make another state tournament run
