The year of the MISSED OPPORTUNITY?

Every year has its “theme” or underlying story. This year is certainly one of missed opportunities. Never before have I seen so many whiffs. I think there must have been 20 plus grade A scoring opportunities in the tournament and the puck seemed to freeze to the ice as the shooter simply missed everything. This happened in A and AA almost once every period of the tournament it seems.
Holy Family couldn’t finish off Tonka in the section final with 3 seconds to go and a chance to make a play to clear the zone at the end. Then they had a golden opportunity for a breakaway early in OT, but again, kid whiffed.
Edina’s goalie surely will spend a lot of his life looking back and asking what if? One small lapse cost so much.
And in the final. Duluth had...ten? golden opportunities to put a puck in the net. So many power plays. Lots of “just missed”.
It was a great tournament, but I think there were more, a LOT more, small errors, yips, whiffs, and misses than I ever remember.
