Thanks for the list--I find it interesting there is not a single commitment to the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Can anyone share any insights on that?

i 2020 and one from Warroad 2018 no MN recruits for 19

every team has different needs from different classes. One team might need to fill 7 19' spots while another might only need a couple for the same class. I believe Wisconsin needed to fill only 3 19' spots and on the flip side of that they need to fill 8 20' spots. Odds are if they only need 3 they're probably not coming from MN but it does happen.

Wish people could find a place to report those girls continuing their hockey careers at D3 schools. Thousands of fans watch those games in MN & WI every year - 6 D1 programs in those states vs. 19 D3 teams. If you know of young women continuing at a MN or WI D3 school post 'em here! No, it's not D1 hockey, but there's a lot of good hockey being played.

Congrats as this is a huge honor. I’m only concerned as how young are we getting kids committing to college programs. I’m 8th grade I was excited and looking forward to starting hs in 10th grade so cant imagine what the logic and process is for a 8th grader trying to decide on a college offer. I’m waiting to see one of the Pohl girls

Rilee is a 9th grader. However, your point still applies and is valid.

Are other D1 schools grabbing these young kids as well or is it mainly the U? It amazes me (i'm not sure why) these D1 schools are getting these kids to verbally commit this young. I get they are very talented but I just don't see the need. I'll be curious on a couple of things, now that they have verbally committed to a school (not signed) do they pump the breaks a bit on overall development? Does this force these kids a bit to now become 1 sport athletes?

If School A doesn't accept the kid's commitment but School B will, then the "problem" of early commitments will always be around.

The NCAA is in the process of changing the rules on communication between college coaches and recruits, which is the most obvious way to stop early commits.

I suspect a lot of schools are trying to commit the younger girls before the rules change in April and they can't talk to them until they are Juniors. So we will see a lot more younger commitments between now and April.

I had a look at the minutes from an April 2018 NCAA rules meeting, and it appears to me the plan is for a two year approach to change recruiting. Here's the link:

The Student-Athlete Experience Committee will continue its review of
early recruiting issues during the next 18 months. The review focuses on
the recruitment of prospective student-athletes that occurs before the junior
year in high school. The goal of this review is to align the decision-making
timeline of a prospective student-athlete with the decision-making timeline
of a typical prospective student. Phase IB of the review will include the
topics of recruiting communications and offers of athletics aid. Legislative
concepts from Phase IB are expected to be introduced into the 2018-19
legislative cycle. Phase II of the review will include contacts, evaluations,
recruiting calendars, tryouts and camps and clinics. Phase II legislative
concepts will be introduced into the 2019-20 legislative cycle.

On the boys side Canada's CHL (Major Junior) vies for the players. That's a partial explanation for why colleges target 15-year-olds. Doesn't apply to girls so the only thing I see is that coaches have a lot easier time plucking off a few 9th graders each year and waiting until they are seniors like the old days means they'll have to slug it out in recruiting battles with a slew of other programs.
