All those D1 commits and losing to the Sartells and Eveleths out there...

Chaska just isn’t ready to take the next step yet, as projected, after beating EP in section playoffs last year. Chaska lost to Sartell early last season as well. Sometimes expectations are too high and projections/forecasts are flat out wrong.

I still think there are some strategy adjustments to be made.

But, better have them figured out in the next few weeks-some brutal games coming up, theyd do well just to keep those close.

Koster didn't play in those two games. Chaska is 3-1 with Koster in the lineup.

IMO Chaska hasn't been playing as a team. Seems like players have been more interested in individual stats than wins. As a result, they haven't been very successful in either area.

Last night that shifted a bit but still some work to do.

I believe Hat Trick is spot on. Watching a few of Chaska's games this year like last week at Rosemount some of their "high profile" players seemed much more intent on doing everything all by themselves rather then being part of a team on the ice. With multiple players in their initial year of eligibility for the draft it could be effecting their game play choices.

Buffalo wins 5-4 over Chaska.
Bison scored off a sloppy rebound with a few minutes left to pull off the victory. Don’t know the shot totals, but it was 23-15 in favor of Buffalo midway through the 3rd. Bison completely neutralized Chaska’s top line during the second half of the game. Mueller didn’t even play in goal for Buffalo, but the backup was solid after some early jitters. The Hawks are completely perplexing... the talent flashes at times, but there is just no cohesion or consistency.

Random Suggestions off the top of my head:

Koster should ideally be only on ice when Hawks 2nd or third line is out there . This will solidify the roles and spacing of the first line forwards , and the routine of the other Dmen looking to hit the Fs with breakout passes

Each 2nd or third line forward should know their role and position if Mike is carrying the puck in and remaining in the o zone

When Koster is not on ice and opposing first line or individual star is out there , assign Lavelle or Olmscheid to the shadowing, lead neutral zone harassment , and lead forecheck role

For the upcoming Tonka , Edina and EP games , experiment with a Wayzata or Deast defensive trap type game . Otherwise , not going to be pretty

Go ahead and keeping rotating Bach and Stark .
Many other good teams do this successfully . Before tonite , each was about 90 pc . That’s ok . Each has had good and bad games . Cant quite figure out how Bach has had more? 4+ goal allowed games than all or close to all of last year

Ok , go ahead and throw your shots at me. Maybe will lead to good ideas fir the Hawks.

Is Chaska the most over-rated pre-season team in recent history? Hard to come up with another contender.

Cloquet is close but Chaska is far more confusing as they have their weapons, Cloquet lost top 2 D. I really do hope to see Chaska pick up their chemistry. They have the potential to be very good, but there is just something missing.

Moorhead was a top five pick to start last season but struggled. The top line had high expectations.

Maybe Chaska should opt down to A hockey. This whole AA thing just ain’t working out and could really hurt the egos of these poor kids. I feel so bad for them to lose games to good teams and that the league expects them to play AA simply because there’s a lot of students that attend their school. These kids deserve to go to a state tourney every year. Let’s have 10 state tournaments!!!!!!

Splitting Lavelle and Pitlick improved both first and second line chemistry. They didn’t work well together as they both tend to hold on to the puck too long. Koster always makes great decisions with the puck. Warnert was able to match Jensen’s strength and physical play when they were out together.

Agree with that Bus, I like the makeup of the first and second lines now. I do wish Olmscheid and Benz would use their fairly large bodies a little more on the forecheck and in neutral zone to help wear opponents down, in addition to Warnert. Also, IMHO Koster should try to be on ice whenever 2nd and 3rd lines are out there, not so much with first. However, hard to argue with a hatty. Also, Owen Thomas on 3rd line is stepping up this year. Hawks should win Friday, but going to have to have a defensive minded game plan to stay close to Edina on Saturday. Im assuming the goalie rotation will continue so Stark will be in net against the Hornets. Anyway, this was a statement win for the Hawks!

Typical Karl logic.....hang on to one win while ignoring losses to Buffalo, Rosemount, Eveleth, and Sartell (who struggled with Mankato East).

Geez, I would have assumed Rosemount would be far enough south for you to have some sort of bias towards them

CDH was ranked pretty high in the preseason also if memory serves correct. You could also throw CEC in that mix.
