6-2 CEC over WBL
The Bears have seemed to have mailed this season in. Maybe the Jacks find an upset or 2 in 7AA sectional play.

Just another Sager team getting worse as the season moves along, they're a total mess.

CEC: “Our season is circling the toilet bowl.”
WBL: “Hold my beer and we’ll show you how to really collapse.”

Armstrong/ Cooper Upsets Orono 4-3 at Orono ... Delano the #1 seed now?

SCC wins a Shoutout 7-6 over normally defensive-minded AA Power Wayzata... Good response after the ugly game last night

Denfeld barely sneaks by Sartell 2-1 ... Sartell is a scary low seed in 6A! Been playing better of late!

It was my opinion that EP was quite sloppy the first half of this game. Whatever the opposite of crisp, clean passing and play would be, that would describe it. Kept turning it over, just ran into traffic and fell apart. Passed into the neutral zone on the PP without being pressured. This includes a full 5 minute major in the first, and at the end of 1, they had 2 shots on goal. Credit to the Skips for dissecting their play. Who didn’t dominate offensively, but they scored on their first two scoring chances, a 2 on 1 in the first, and I didn’t fully see the 2nd goal but I think the EP D let a forward skate in front is the goalie and he slid it 5 hole.

Halfway through the game Eagles on the PP, applied some pressure for the first time all game, which resulted in a goal. They controlled the rest of the game for the most part, had another couple chances but couldn’t connect. 3rd Tonka goal was into an empty net. I think shots were roughly 30-25 in favor of Eagles.

On another note, for those talking about the WBL Bears, crazy how far they’ve fallen, when they were ranked #1 in the state a few weeks back by Lets Play Hockey.

WBL surely was never the best team in the state, and literally from when they were first ranked #1, it has been all downhill since them. While they were certainly never a true #1 in state, they also aren't as atrocious as they have played the last handful of outings.
I'd love to hear from someone close to the program for better insight, but roster is talented, and none of that talent is being utilized to potential. Maybe they got hot, and rattle 3 off to make state, but more likely they get upset in the 3 vs 6 game.

This also seems to be WBL last chance at success for some time as the youth teams aren't stocked full of skill. Roed has regressed, so wouldn't be surprised if he bailed on his SR year if other options present themselves.

My guess would be because they played Grand Rapids the night before and then Cloquet the next day at 1:00.

I think Sager wanted to get Ryan one more start as he is a senior and hasn't played much this year (although I suppose you could've started him Tuesday against Flake). Poor kid got left out to dry with some really bad turnovers by the players in front of him, I really wouldn't put any of the goals on him plus the 6th was a empty netter. As for what's wrong with the team? I was honestly speechless during that CEC game cause I've never seen them play that bad before ( and I've seen them have some bad games). Lots of turnovers, bad passes, lack of discipline. This team takes way too many offensive zone penalties and there's never any consequences for it, why stop if you know nothing is gonna happen besides having to serve a 2 minute penalty? This has been a theme for the Bears forever. Also Friday in Rapids, the 3rd line of Bishop-Kuyava-Johnson was playing great, providing energy every shift, had one of the best scoring chances in the 3rd and Sager sits them for the rest of the game. Every year this happens even when the Bears have a 3rd line you can trust to be out there in big situations and it ends up with the top players being overly tired by the end of the game. As many people have mention, White Bear never gets better over the course of the season, they either stay the same or get worse. As for Lleyton Roed, poor kid is snake bitten right now, he's still getting assists but the goals aren't coming easy for him anymore and it's not for a lack of effort, you can tell he's frustrated. Hopefully he can pop one in and get some confidence back cause we need him if the Bears want to do anything in sections.
