Did Jared Smith play defense or wing in the Elite League? I am kind of surprised he did not make either roster or did I miss his name?

What position was he playing before he was injured? Also, I hope the injury was not serious.

Jared played defense with Team NW. On a rare occasion or two he did play forward. Jared suffered some sort of thigh injury and was probably going to be out for about 3 weeks or so.

Below find the stats off of the EL1 web site depicting the EL1 goalie stats.

Sorted by Save %;

1.) Kent Patterson - Team NW - .916 S% / 3.43 GAA.
2.) Matt Beggs - Team SE - .907 S% / 3.10 GAA
3.) Micheal Haggart - Team GP - .901 S% / 3.43 GAA
4.) Austin Lee - Team SW - .899 S% / 3.98 GAA
5.) Mark Guggenberger - Team SE - .892 S% / 3.71 GAA
6.) Keaton Smith - Team SW - .884 S% / 4.65 GAA
6.) Zach Faust - Team NE - .884 S% / 3.93 GAA
6.) Carey Woods - Team NE - .884 S% / 5.19 GAA
9.) Reid Ellingson - Team N - .882 S% / 4.11 GAA
10.) Sean Deichert - Team GP - .871 S% / 4.69 GAA
11.) Hartzell - Team NW - .872 S% / 5.30 GAA
12.) Paul - Team N - .850 S% / 4.53 GAA

Upon review of the above stats, can you tell me how Kent Patterson was left behind as an Alternate? Was he simply told to wait his turn because he is a soph? He has played beyond his years, since he was a freshman playing for Blake and further demonstrated his skills in the EL1 with the best save % overall and he gets shunned! Patterson's goalie partner in the EL1 was Hartzell playing the same teams with the same players in front of him which should further demonstrate his play in the league!

Of the 4 goalies moving on into the EL1 final 2 rosters, Beggs is the only goalie that attained a Save % above .900. Moving on are;
Smith (three way tie for #6)
Ellingson (#9)
Beggs (#2)
Guggenberger (#5).

mnhockey39

See my reply in the goalie thread, but to add...
sophmores are not eligible for the National event (unless something extremely unexpectd occurs).

Some of the goalies on the list were injured ... Haggart for one and Lee was just coming off an injury.

But more to the point - stat are not the only tale of the tape.
The coaches rank the players. That list is compiled and then the coaches meet and discuss the merits of each player and the final list is arrived at.

Patterson was not shunned as the players and parents are told that sophs are only eligible for alternate status letting the scouts know how the coaches feel and giving the sophs another notch for their player profile sheet.

And yes Patterson is a very good goalie.

Mr Elliot, Do you know why Grimstad and Knoepke didn't make it. I thought Garrett was pretty high in scorers on the SE team that won the tourney.

jcn
Hockey Nut in So. MN

John,
I was not around for the whole discussion and even for the part I was there, I was concentrating on the admin stuff.

So, no, I don't know. But I will find out this weekend what the feeling was on these 2 and recap it for you by email next week.

Sounds good they performed well for us in the advanced 17's and I think Garrett is in the top 24 forwards. I know he would make a difference.
Hockey Nut in So. MN

Can someone tell me who is on the roster for the Shattuck goaltenders? And is this the top Shattuck team (prep) or is it the step below their top team?

juggled back and forth between Team Illinois v Blues and MN Red v Wisc. Very impressed with the Wisc. boys early on. Neutralized the potent and very talented Red team with consistent forechecking and goaltending. Red team never made is close after the 1st period. Impressed with Sneep and Crandall (Red team) as well as Brecks Fulton. AHA's players looked so-so. EP's Meyers was ejected in 3rd period for backchecking a Wisc. player, hard, into the boards! Quite a few scouts! If Wisc. plays that well they will win it all. The MN White team, led by Oslund, may be deeper than Red.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... yDancer at: 11/5/05 12:25 pm

Andy Sackrison had two goals and an assist in the third period of the blowout win vs. St. Louis.

10th grader Jake Johnson of Denfeld got called up and played a regular shift. It was fun to see the youngster play. He is only 5'7" but hopefully with grow and fill out some more.

They outshot St. Louis 30-10 through two periods. 9-2 final I believe with four in the 1st and 3rd.

Did Beau Christian play in the nets for them this weekend? If so, how did he look? Is he #1 or #2 goalie?
