Wayzata controlled much of that period with their physical forecheck. Clarkowski very solid in net for Edina. The Hornets had a couple quality chances off Wayzata turnovers.

After 2:

Much better period for the Hornets as they controlled the first 15 minutes but couldn't cash in. Wayzata made a push at the end which included a highlight reel save from Clarkowski.

Forest Lake had some decent results this year. And so I expected CDH to win, but not crush them. At this point, Cretin has earned the #1 seed in their section.

Nothing. Forest Lake won't be in the mix to reach the state tournament, let alone do something once they get there.

Hermantown about to get their first L.

Hermantown falls to Rapids 6-3 (eng)

Rapids dominated third period, and I was not impressed by Hermantown defense and goaltending. They did a poor job of rebound control and clearing bodies out in front of the net.

Grand Rapids 6-3 over Hermantown. Empty netter for the last one.
Hibbing 4-1 over Greenway 3rd period.
Eveleth was leading Virginia 2-1.

Jackson Borst ties it up for the Hornets with 6 minutes left. We are headed to overtime. These two teams have played 7 games over the past 2 seasons and this is at least the 3rd that has needed more than 51 minutes to decide.

Wayzata wins 2-1 in OT. I've been having internet issues so I missed the winner.

Fun, very even hockey game. These teams seem to be about as well-matched as it gets. Wouldn't mind seeing another battle in the section playoffs.
