That ended up being quite the thriller. I thought the Roseau fans were overselling Buffalo as a threat, but the Bison played well and just didn’t have the horses to keep up as the game wore along.

STMA is just pounding Brainerd so far. The two Lake teams are showing out well.

Royals have a good team speed and relentless forecheck. This is the first time I have watched them all season.

Fun night in 8AA. I was mostly occupied with other stuff, but managed to catch the last few minutes of the 3rd and OT for both the Roseau and Moorhead games. Thought the Rams were in near-total control and their own worst enemy at times, while Bemidji was generating some halfway respectable chances, but in the end, the best teams won.

I haven't looked back too closely, but it often seems like Roseau plays to the level of their competition in the first round. (In the past I might have blamed their usually weak schedule, but as others have noted, according to PS2, it was actually pretty difficult this year.) If it's any consolation to Rams fans, they also had a one-goal quarterfinal (against River Lakes!) the last time they went to State back in 2014. I still wouldn't bet against the Rams or the Spuds in the semis, but it's a fun section to follow.

I will say Buffalo is going to be a tough team next year. Scoring chances in the game last night were 3-1 in Roseau's favor, but if your not scoring, it doesn't much matter. Hats off to the Bison and their effort last night. They were one bounce away from heading to the semi finals.
