Any schools still use these inhumane torture devices? Any stories of their use ie; longest practice, before big game after bad loss. What is the earliest you have used one, bantams peewees?

My high school, st. cloud cathedral, used them when i played, which was only two years ago. They sucked, but i just took the weights out and put them in someone else's vest. Just kidding, coach. <img src=

2A-

You are so full of crap. You didn't even do weight vests, you conned the coaches into letting you do wall sits and whenever they weren't looking, you definately were not doing them. I'm not criticizing, I would have done the same thing.... or just ran down the hall when coach wasn't looking.... jk<img src=

ONE HAS TO BE CAREFUL HOW AND HOW OFTEN TO USE THE VESTS. LOTS OF HIP FLEXERS AS A RESULT OF USING THEM WHEN I PLAYED HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY 11 YEARS AGO. I SKATE OLD-TIMERS LEAGUE NOW AND I'M STILL USING A WEIGHT VEST, BUT NOW IT'S BUILT RIGHT RIGHT INTO MY ANATOMY.

Icecream's weight vest was 25 pounds. That was 50% of his body weight in high school.

WB Vests

I was actually the one that got WB their vests and the rack they are in. You do have to be very careful how you use them. They should only be worn for about a 20 minute conditioning session with long slow bent knee strides. Three groups of players doing big peanuts in the Nzone or big circles, 20 seconds and next group. I have seen coaches make there team wear them the entire practice as a punishment, bad plan, a bunch of injuries waiting to happen. Great for short interval squat jumps and lunges also.

I know there was an old geezer coach somewhere in the north metro still making his kids condition with them. ( not Sarsland)

At camp we had to wear them for entire days at a time, even to lunch, it was a bad idea, they don't really help all that much except for how much lighter you feel when you step back on the ice without them, and doing plyometrics and workouts with them is just absolute hell, but if you are a well conditioned hockey player which most are at the high school level, they're really not a big deal at all
