Longest Game

So does anyone know which is actually the longest game is state tournament history in terms of OT minutes played? People usually refer to the Apple Valley/Duluth East game as the longest, but the 1955 game between Minneapolis South and Thief River Falls went 11 OTs, which were 5 minutes each I believe. Now even with the shorter OT periods that would still make it longer than AV/East (sorry to make people do math).

Thanks! And apparently the length of the periods in 1955 were only 12 minutes, which is why that game was shorter than AV/East

The 1985 state quarterfinal game between Jefferson and Minnetonka may go down as the craziest overtime game. Play was suspended after the third OT, and the game was completed the next morning. After all that, Jefferson scored just a few minutes into the fourth OT.

Hill & Minnetonka played into 4OTs during the semifinal game at state in 2010. Tonka ended up winning 2-1. Funny part about that game: both goals were scored in the 1st period. Then no scoring for periods 2, 3, OT1, OT2, OT3

Something like just over 86 minutes of game time, so they played almost an entire extra game that night. Badly hurt Tonka's chances of winning the title the next night [they lost to Edina 4-2]

The Tonka coach woke up his team the following morning, so they wouldn't be too tired he said. I don't recall just what time it was, but I thought that was one of the dumbest things Ive ever heard. In the final, they played like someone woke them up too early.

And Edina never sent us a thank you note! Ingrates!

I doubt it's the longest but the Tonka-Jefferson 4OT quarterfinal tilt from 1985 is likely Top 10 if not Top 5.
