I was wondering if the HS numbers might push the Cardinals into AA this last cycle. So it could be a preemptive move if the programs see that as inevitable.
I think I remember the Alexandria Youth program wanted to increase their competition level, so perhaps a move that may not necessarily be related to the HS.
I do think a move to the AA level could be tough at the HS level. It won’t be easy going from being a good A program to the much more competitive AA. Having Northstar right next door makes things tougher.

The youth board had been exploring this for a couple of years now, and with a new HS coach coming in last season, the time seemed right to make the move. As Goose said, It is a move to increase the competition level for the youth programs.
