Class A Ranking Week #4 (12/19/2021)
1- Hermantown (7A) (6-0-0)
Past Week Results: W 6-0 Duluth Marshall, 12/16 W3-0 Mahtomedi
Upcoming Schedule: 12/21 vs. #8 Duluth Denfeld, 12/23 @ Cretin Durham Hall
The Hawks life without Zam continued as it looks like he will be back in January at the earliest depending on his MRI. They have the depth to be fine and they showed that early in the week by first defeating the Toppers 6-0 behind Wyatt Carlson’s 3 point night. In the big match up with Mahtomedi the Hawks depth was on full display as even though they were without their star they came at the Zephyrs in waves. Ty Hanson played the hero with his 2 goal effort and Hermantown secured a nice win for State seedings in a few months. This week it doesn't get any easier a big match up with the Hunters for 7A seeding and then a match up with highly touted AA CDH.
2- Warroad (8A) (7-0-0)
Past Week Results: W 6-3 East Grand Forks, W 7-1 Rogers
Upcoming Schedule: 12/21 vs. Thief River Falls
The Warriors took the first of what most likely is going to be three meetings vs their Section 8A rivals EGF. Daimon Garnder was the difference; his 2 goal 4 point night helped Warroad win a big game on the road in which they never trailed. The Warriors continued their great week by blowing open a tight 1 to 1 contest against Rogers in the third period on Saturday. Gaabi Bouchi evoked some of his grandpa’s scoring prowess and scored two goals to start the third that led to a six goal onslaught and a very nice win. This week they face the always well coached and well prepared Prowlers from TRF.
3- Mahtomedi (4A) (4-3-0)
Past Week Results: L 0-3 Hermantown
Upcoming Schedule: 12/21 vs. Stillwater
The Zephyrs went toe to toe with the #1 hawks but got worn down as the game went along. They weren't really able to generate much of an offensive threat after period 1. However, senior Ben Dardis stopped 40 of 42 shots and held Mahtomedi in the game until the very end. Overall, it wasn’t a bad showing but it wasn't a great one either for the Zephyrs. They continue this week to play their AA heavy schedule as they play Stillwater and they keep learning their craft on how to give up shots but not great opportunities and rely on their senior star in the net.
4- Little Falls (5A) (8-0-0)
Past Week Results: W 8-1 Sauk Rapids
Upcoming Schedule: 12/21 vs. Brainerd
The Flyers had their big Section 5A showdown game with Cambridge ppd just hours before puck drop due to some non illness issues. Hopefully that game will get rescheduled soon; they did take on the Storm from Sauk Rapids on Saturday and behind Matt Filippi’s hat trick the Flyers rolled to another high scoring win. This week they look to stay unbeaten as they face an old conference rival in Brainerd.
5- Delano (2A) (6-1-0)
Past Week Results:W 5-2 Breck , W 5-2 Hutchinson
Upcoming Schedule: 12/22 vs. Orono
Delano got a 5-2 win in a chippy Section 2A game vs. Breck. Will Brown led the way with 2 goals and the Tigers got another key Section win for down the road. On Saturday the Tigers received a surprising scare from Hutchinson who led after one and had the game tied up after two periods. Gunnar Paulson’s 2 points in the third period were helpful as Delano was able to come away with a much needed Section 2A win. One game this week against longtime rival orono this one should be a good one as it always is when these two play.
6- Fergus Falls (6A) (7-1-0)
Past Week Results: L 4-5 OT Brainerd, W 6-2 Rochester Century, W 3-0 Owatonna
Upcoming Schedule: 12/21 @ River Lakes
Fergus Falls week got off to a surprisingly bad start as they dropped a home CLC contest to a previously winless Brainerd bunch. The Otters fell behind early but were able to tie it up; however, the Warriors came away with a surprising upset victory in overtime. The Otters opened up their southern swing surprisingly falling behind Century 2-0 after 1 period but they broke out of their mini funk with 6 unanswered goals led by Carter Thielke, Cole Zierden, and Isaac Johnson’s 2 goal efforts they cruised to a Friday night win. They wrapped up the road trip on Saturday with a win over Owatonna behind Ben Swanson’s shut out. This week just one game vs. CLC River Lakes on the road.
7- Minneapolis (2A) (5-1-0)
Past Week Results: Idle
Upcoming Schedule: 12/20 @ Totino Grace, 12/23 vs. St Louis Park
Unfortunately Minneapolis ws not able to follow up on their momentum from their great week last week. They had both of their Section 2A games PPD this week. Let's hope they are back up and playing this week.

Junior Kaden Postal’s hat trick led the way and the Hunters again appeared to wear down their opponent. On Saturday they followed their script that they have used over the last few weeks and took down Proctor by yet again blowing the game open in the third period. Cooper McClure’s Hat Trick led the way and the Hunters are hot heading into a very tough week. They have their first taste of the Hawks on Tuesday and then take on AA Grand Rapids Thursday.
9- Alexandria (6A) (3-3-0)
Past Week Results: W 9-4 Sauk Rapids W 4-1 East Grand Forks
Upcoming Schedule: 12/23 @ St. Cloud
The Cards go their week off to flying start jumping all over the Storm 9-4 led by the co-hat tricks of Josiah Gronholz and Joe Lamski but the goaltending questions remain as they gave up 4 goals on just 11 shots. The Cards followed that win with their biggest win to date as they were able to finish off EGF unlike Little Falls. In a game they never trailed, Alexandria was able to use Josiah Gronholz’s 2nd hat trick of the week to secure a big win in a spot back in the top 10. This week just one game at AA St. Cloud.
10-East Grand Forks (8A) (4-4-0)
Past Week Results: L 3-6 Warroad, L Alexandria 1-4
Upcoming Schedule: 12/23 @ Bemidji
The Greenwave lost to their arch rivals at home to start the week in a game that they never led Jaksen Panzer’s 3 point effort was not enough. EGF’s dip in the rankings continued as they lost yet another key home game on Saturday this time to struggling Alexandria. They dug themselves a hole yet again and they could not get out of it and they dropped back to .500 on the year. This week they visit a solid Bemidji squad in a game they really could use to try and get back on track.

The Raiders struck just 10 seconds into the game and rolled behind Senior Spencer Klotz big night; they also got 3 points from sophomore defenseman Ty Frank. This week they again just have one game and it's on the road at St Paul Academy.
12- Providence Academy (2A) (5-2-0)
Past Week Results: W 8-3 Hopkins, W 7-3 Armstrong Cooper
Upcoming Schedule: 12/21 @ Holy Family

The Lightning lost a tough one at home vs Detroit Lakes and their stock took a tumble as a result. The fell behind earlier at home against the Lakers and they never recovered. Northern Lakes then had to rebound fast as they took on Park Rapids the next night. The Lightning led by Tyler Seeling’s 2 goals and Taylor Berg’s 4 assists were able to come away with a 5-2 win. Against Winona they were led by the 4 point nights of Senior Aiden Prochaska and Sophomore Christian Theuninck to cruise to their 4th straight win. They followed that up by taking care of Rochester John Marshall and now Mankato East has won five in a row with a big Section 3A game on the road vs Minnesota River on of the few Section opponents they play so they need a win here to help secure their argument for top seed later on in the year.
18- Chisago Lakes (4A) (6-1-1)
Past Week Results: W 2-1 Pine City, L 4-6 Princeton, W 6-5 Mound Westonka
